My 2019 wrangler Rubicon 3.6 started doing this thing where it won't crank the first time I push the button, the next time it will crank just fine. But tells me to service electronic stop/start. And it also threw a check engine light. But overall drove just fine with zero issues.

My aux battery was reading low on my meter so I just went and replaced it. Bought a brand new battery. Got it installed and now I get a battery icon on the dash and ess disabled light. And after running for a bit I get a message for "vehicle will turn off soon please come to a safe stop". Before changing the battery I could at least drive it.

I've looked around the forum, and tried to disable the aux battery by pulling fuse 42 and unplugging the aux negative from the main. But when the aux negative is pulled off, my jeep has no power at all. So I can't even attempt to start the jeep to see if that fixed it.

Tutorial after tutorial my jeep should work the same as all the others I've seen and read, except I have no power.

Can anyone help me? sorry if this is the wrong thread.

Sounds like you blew the N3 fuse on the Z Case Fuse Array - likely while swapping the AUX (ESS) battery.
Just checked that specifically and yes you are correct I do not have continuity in it. When installing my aux battery I accidently bumped my hot to my negative with my ratchet, just for a split second, and I bet that's when it happened. Sparks went flying for sure.

I carry a Z case fuse array as a critical spare, along with the green CANBUS thingy that is attached behind the glovebox. Having one or both will at least allow me to restore the vehicle to running condition, and/or buy me time to diagnose the issue (like crossed cables ;)).

Just a suggestion.

Do you have a picture or link to the can bus thing? Lol I can't figure out what exactly you are referring to

Your N3 fuse is blown on the z-case array. The big bar of fuses in your fuse box. You can pull the wiring and put it on N4 as a temporary fix.

There's a white piece, and a green one.

Here's a link to the former:
https://store.mopar.com/oem-parts/mopar-connector-can-buss-68140647aa

The green piece was purchased on eBay.

There's a variety of wires that are plugged into each piece. Remove the glovebox (as though you were replacing the cabin air filter) for easy access to the CANBUS panels.

Again, they're just spares. I agree that the Z case fuse array will likely need to be replaced in your Jeep.

I am ordering the new array it will be here Friday, are you sure this won't hurt anything to put it on n4? I just want to make sure it won't pull too many amps with both things connected to that single fuse

Nevermind, there isn't anything physically run to n4. I was asking based on what the description for that fuse was. Just tried it, it fixed my issues. Thanks to all involved you saved me a headache

I’ve had some issues, previous owner removed the aux battery the F 42 fuse and still causing the jeep to come to a ESS stop when the button is not pressed. I went into J scans and deactivated all the settings. However it is still functioning. I ended up just doing the hood plunger/switch method for now.

I completly removed my aux battery, looped the harness for it up and onto the main battery, modded the terminal ends and bolted them on. 0 issues, no fuses pulled, nothing.

Sounds like you may be doing too much haha, just bolt the aux terminals to the main battery and be done with it...

So does that disable the ESS?
