How many people are running with an aux battery still?

If i an understanding correctly the aux battery is on board for the sake of electronics during s/s events.

Am i putting electronics at risk long term, or in a high draw situation like witching?

I'm open to keeping or deleting just trying to figure out which option is best long term.

I am asking this on the diesel section. So I appreciate opinions of those with gassers but for this wisdom I seek a diesel only opinions.

We have almost 48k miles on our JLURD and still on the original batteries. It is not our daily driver so it lives on a battery tender most the time. Although it does go out for 10 day overlanding trips a couple times a year and a bunch of 2-3 day camping and off roading trips all summer long. I keep debating about disconnecting the aux battery and pulling the F43 fuse.

I'm at 60k miles. Original batteries as well.

I was looking at disconnecting aux, tape off negative, attach positive to positive main and not pull fuses.

I'm also considering just getting a quality set of batteries.

My 23 Wrangler Rubi has the Lithium Aux battery in the rear by the Diff and I don't have the F42 fuse. Last month, I replaced my OEM battery with the Genesis Gen 3 Dual Odessey AGM batteries and the Lithium OEM Aux battery is still installed. I do have an Auto Stop/Start Eliminator circuit installed.

The main reason I went with the dual battery system was because of the winch, air compressor, refrigerator, and a flashlight charger. These accessories are connected to the secondary/auxiliary battery power buss bar in order to not run down the primary starting battery while out on the trail.

I put in a Antigravity Lithium Battery about a year ago. I have replaced both my batteries in the past 5 years. I have a 2020 JLURD. I left the Aux battery in and finally deleted it last weekend. I taped the negative cable and connected the Positive to the positive terminal.

The Antigravity battery is amazing. I had a drain on the system (back light was activated and sat for 5 days while I was out of town. Push of one button and it started right up. The electronics automatically shut the battery off from the vehicle and can jump start itself. I also installed a the monitor that is blue tooth and I can monitor the voltage, crank test and charge test from my phone. Should last 8 to 10 years. So far, so good! I can pull the battery our with one hand.

I just replaced both batteries on my wife's 21 JLURD.
I disconnected the aux battery for a week, because it was having starting issues. Jeep would start right up after I disconnected the aux.
But I ended up replacing both batteries anyways. 4yrs old and 40k+ miles. Figured it was time.
Aux is so easy and I wanted to keep it stock, atleast for now. Stayed all stock sizes of the batteries, although the big battery has 760cca vs 650 of oem.

My 22JTRD will probably get done this summer. But I'll go with the bigger 94r vs the 48 I did in the wife's. I run a winch and a few extra lights she doesn't.

Is your alternator system compatible for charging Lithium batteries? Chargers for Lithium chemistry batteries are unique with a special algorithm and voltage and if you charge a lithium battery with a non-lithium battery charger you will either damage the battery and/or cause a battery fire. The Lithium battery BMS will not compensate for the need of an appropriate Lithium battery charger

According to the antigravity site the state:

"Our lithium batteries will operate perfectly fine with the stock charging system in most motorcycles, powersports vehicles and automobiles. Where the problem can occur is when charging the battery with a standalone charger. Additionally if you have an aftermarket charging system on your vehicle, note that we cannot warranty the battery for use with aftermarket charging systems due to the fact that we do not test with these and some of these are not regulated as strictly as a stock/standard system found in a motorcycle, powersports vehicle or automobile. "

As long as you have not modified your stock system you should have not issues. I have been running this for over a year and I am aware of another Jeep that has been running for over 2 years and swears by it.

Just had my aux replaced under warranty on my '23 JLURD. The ASS system was displaying a message indicating that it wasn't ready/system charging. This went on for a couple of months. Eventually, I called the dealership, and they ended up testing both batteries and replacing the aux. I will probably delete it once it's out of warranty and put in something better for the main.

I think that's a sound plan. I had to replace my main battery at about 18 months. It cost me more time and effort to get it to the dealership than it was worth. It happened on a Sunday when I was out and about. So, I replaced it my self. A little over a year 2 years and the Aux battery went. At 4 years the Main battery was going again. So, I decided to go with the Antigravity battery. It should last 8 to 10 years. I kept my Aux battery in until a week or so ago. Started getting some funky issues with the jeep. So, I deleted it completely and haven't had an issue since.

The other nice thing is the Battery Management System that is built into the battery. You can jump start your own battery from a remote or on the battery itself. If there is a power drain on your system it would cut the battery off not to continue to drain it and you can hit the jumpstart control and you are back moving again.

Keep an eye on your main. They're known to die together.

Replaced my main battery after just over 2 years and 48k miles of daily driving. My ESS has not been ready/charging since my JTOD was less than six months old. I do not care.

You don't?? For mine that was a symptom of a bad IBS, which was replaced under warranty.
