Perhaps but this is certainly not one of them it's idiotic. Where is the motivation to learn a so called "skill" that 99.9% of people will never EVER use. Are you a whiz at playing Xbox games like Fortnite as well as a 12 year old can? No? .....you slacker...no motivation?? You can't do something most preteens can do easily. I'll bet those damn kids don't know how to use an abacus either.

Well probably none of those dam kids can use a slide rule either. Frickin slackers.
I bet they rarely use a calculator anymore too. Like you can just ask Siri or google. Duh. I wonder how many kids can find a book using index cards at the library?

Yes, sorry I won’t buy a Jeep with an underpowered engine when there are better engine alternatives. Got me!
Every Jeep know to man except the current offerings has been “underpowered”. My first Jeep could barley do 50mph, but it was a beast off-road.

Has it ever been published what % of new wranglers is sold with a manual? Any information on that ratio would be helpful if anyone has ever heard it.
Thanks!
Just curious. Why would it be helpful?

I have and will continue to blame Jeep drivers for the manual transmission "issue". Friction generates heat, that's some physics 101. For you to burn a Jeep down, you would have to generate inordinate amounts of clutch slip without stopping. Which indicts Jeep drivers for being comically inattentive, or dense, or having no sense of feel, or any combination thereof. If the first symptom you notice of a bad clutch is the resultant fire, or the molten fragments shot through the chassis, then the buck is on you. If you are attentive, and understand the mechanics of a manual transmission, you will not be burning your Jeep down.

All clutches wear. It's a wear item. When it's worn, it will slip. Most every other car community deals with worn clutches, especially on older/vintage cars, and they do so without catastrophically burning their car down. Take some 80s sports car forum, they have far more worn clutches in their ranks than the relatively new JL. But the only special people that will keep driving it while it slips until it turns volcanic are Jeep people.

I haven't driven a JL with a failing clutch. I have driven a manual JL, and the clutch was vague I'd be surprised if you could tell any difference at all. It was like phoning it in. It was so bad I got the 8 speed after driving a manual TJ up to 240k miles.

And why is that?
I don't think there is any question driving an AT is easier than driving a MT over the same terrain. But who cares. Someone else could say to me "anyone can overland or cross country through the American SW in August with AC in their Jeep. Try it without AC tell me how easy it is." My comments were meant in jest.

Sounds like you have your Jeep tricked out nicely and what's more important is you enjoy your Jeep. We are all members of the Jeep fraternity and I'm sure you would help me if you saw I was having a trouble on the trail and vice versa.

Oh I think this is mostly all in good fun, at least for me. I have made a few snarky comments but in jest. I don't care what anyone drives. Drive what you like and like what you drive...even if I don't understand how any man could choose an AT for a Jeep....

Come on...I'm kidding!
All good things must come to an end and wife has made the call…MT no more!

if you want to drive a really GREAT AT then get behind the wheel of a Ford Superduty diesel truck 10 speed. That is a joy to drive. My F 450 has it and I love it. Best AT ever…

Or the least like able jeep sold.
I think it's probably more like "the least likely Jeep you can convince your significant other that you should buy."

Probably lots of people would love to get a 2-door manual, but get resistance from the spouse due to being "impractical" and/or "hard to drive".

It’s actually really useful in Europe as a significant portion of rental cars are manual. I’ve seen Americans rent in Paris and drive a couple hundred miles rather than take the train to the city they needed to be and rent there because they were afraid the pickings might be slim and they might not have autos. My how far we’ve fallen.

every time I've rented a car in Europe or Britain it's had a manual transmission.

Knowing how to drive a manual was clutch (har har) when I was in Europe last time. None of my peers could drive stick so by default I had control of the vehicle we rented which, in our particular situation, made my life better.

This is precisely the case. I think statistically, the people who have the most expendable income also have families, and modern women generally wear the pants and won’t let you get away with a 2 door anything, whether its a jeep or a sports car(likely due to their significant contributions to the expendable income). So your car has to now be a station wagon, an off roader and a sports car rolled into one, so you can get some semblance of what you want, but you can also carry your spawn and disgruntled wife around which takes priority over all things.

My other main vehicle is 10,000 pounds with 200 HP. Funny to hear anyone say a 3.6 is "gutless". The Ford Ranger I learned to drive on required you to get a mile head start at full throttle to 90 MPH, only to get to the top of the hill into town at 60 (with a manual downshift). The Wrangler will pull 6th gear at 65 MPH on the cruise control just fine on the same hill.

I have no problems with the manual in the Jeep. It is completely fine (assuming it doesn't blow up I guess). We have become so spoiled that we can complain about how bad that manual is, when it is the best manual I have driven to date, if you don't include motorcycles (my GSXR 1000 is wonderful).

Welcome to 2023. Phew, that was tough to type on my flip phone!
I fail to understand your meaning. The current 3.6l 6speed is the most powerful wrangler to date. I’m not discussing the station wagon editions.
I spoke into my phone…

It's the only option for the 2 door manual...Jeep doesn't give two shits about the 2 door. Thus why it's optioned with a garbage manual. It can't even handle the low torque of the 3.6. And they reduce the tow rating. Ford offered a crap manual in the Bronco too. I'm not a manual hater, I have a C7 Vette with a 7 speed. Nearly every vehicle I've owned is a manual. My JK was a manual and had that for 10 years. It's disappointing Jeep and Ford don't care about their manual transmissions.
