Tried it, tried and tried it, again and again and again.... Doesn't work.
Pull Fuse F97 with engine off... count to 10 plug it back in... start jeep.... If you get a default theme with no apps.... turn off jeep and wait for radio to turn off... then start it again... should be back to normal... till the next time its cold....

Boulder, CO, Dec 3rd, 6:30 a.m. 24 degrees.
Remote start with comfort controls
Audio cutting in and out AGAIN and no back up camera lines AGAIN
Vehicle only ran for 5 minutes
Shut down for a little over an hour. I was planning to drive directly to the dealership when they opened at 7:30 a.m.
Dec 3rd 7:45 a.m. still 24 degrees
Remote start with comfort controls
All back to normal. SIgh.

I received a call from Jeep last Thursday, Nov 30th regarding my "case number". The guy was really nice but in essence told me that they were now closing my escalated case number even though this was the 1st time anyone reached out to me about it (after private messaging my VIN, software version, etc) because there are no service bulletins for it and MY dealership (who does nothing for me) hasn't been able to reproduce the problem. He told me to call Jeep when I'm able to take it to the dealership WHILE the problem is happening and they will open ANOTHER case number for it. @JeepCares , so, I have to be inconvenienced once again and lose more time from work? This is not acceptable. Jeep should communicate something to everyone experiencing the issue regarding the status of the fix. In fact, If Jeep would at minimum communicate with everyone that it is a known issue and is currently being worked on, that would be a great start.

I can't continue to lose time from work or even my private life, for that matter, over this maddening issue in a $57K vehicle. I will from this point forward, be issuing a bill back invoice to Jeep and the dealership for these upgraded components that don't work and also for my lost time from work. I'll carbon copy every consumer advocate agency, related media interests and Attorneys General that are appropriate.

What would I like? I'd like an honest estimated date on the fix. Is that too much to ask?

Take a video of the issue occurring and tell them that in some cases, for example mine, they offered to replace the entire system.

I have the appointment tomorrow for the install of the new system, hopefully it will not have the issue once it's replaced, hopefully -_- ....

Let us know how that works out for you. I havent had the radio problem but my back up camera lines disappeared today when leaving work and I just got this three days ago and I have about 180 miles on it.

Thanks, I'll stay on them. I do already have a bunch of videos of the problem occurring. The guy I work with in service struggles to keep his surly attitude in check and just keeps telling me that without diagnostic codes and a specific TSB, there's nothing more he can (OR IS WILLING) to do. I guess it's finally time to go over his head. I feel like they should at least OFFER to do something more.

Hi Trailhead Girl,

Please know that we take this concern very seriously, and we are working with customers and dealers to have any reported concerns inspected and diagnosed. I can see that a case manager was working with you on this, but unfortunately if the dealership cannot duplicate the symptoms, they're not able to verify the concern in order to proceed with diagnosis/repairs. I am very sorry for any inconvenience you have been caused, and if you are able to bring the vehicle back into the dealer for further inspection, please PM us so we can re-open your case.

So let me get this straight, others that are experiencing the same issue, the KNOWN issue, are getting new radios but because the dealership can't reproduce the KNOWN issue when I leave the vehicle with them, I have to be continually inconvenienced, lose time from work, and suffer the maddening symptoms of the faulty computer? All for the low low price of FIFTY SEVEN THOUSAND DOLLARS?

It's turning into a much bigger consumer issue and your perfunctory response only infuriates more.

This is really disrespectful to my time, my money and my efforts. It should just be a recall.

SAME ISSUE! I took it in for service and because they couldn't reproduce the problem they just sent me on my way after making me PAY $12 to drive a rental MINI VAN all weekend. Good gravy, I didn't buy a Rubicon to get stuck in a mini van all weekend AND pay for it. The next time the audio cut in and out it also created a glitch in the navigator that cut the radio to deliver directions but the navigation voice that is supposed to be heard at this point wasn't present at all, just silence, then back to music cutting in and out. I pulled over and shut down the engine to turn it back on in hopes of reset. Things just got worse. I tried to turn the radio down to zero but the radio kept playing albeit with the annoying cutting in and out so I decided to open the vehicle door to entirely kill the power. The power stayed on when I opened the door after the engine was shut down!! It only resets after the vehicle has been shut down for several hours. A week later the cutting in and out started again but this time it effected the backup camera. The camera works but the guidelines disappear. I too wonder if it is related to remote start because it seems like it only does it if I use remote start in the cold but not every time I use remote start. So, I don't know. it's an enigma.

My Rubicon has less than 3500 miles on it and I've already taken it in once for this. I called and SPOKE to the service contact Robbie at LHM Jeep on 104th in Westminster, Colorado and told him that the electrical issues were persisting and becoming worse. I asked him to research the problem with whatever information was available to him regarding this issue on my new enormously expensive vehicle and get back to me. That was Thursday Nov 9th. Today is the 19th and I still have yet to hear back from Robbie at LHM Jeep. I left a message on the morning of the 16th to have the service manager Jon Campbell please call me and specifically stated why. Today It's 2pm on the 19th and I haven't heard from him either. @JeepCares please help me out. Is this a battery/Uconnect reset issue? I'll try it. What exactly are the steps please? I really need some satisfaction on this issue because for $52K and I've only made two payments on it, I need the computer to work. The problems can be seen as a potential safety issue as they increase and persist in new and varying ways.

Issues:
1. Radio/XM/bluetooth audio cuts in and out
2. When audio cuts in and out it effects other systems i.e. Navigation and backup camera
3. When audio is cutting in and out it effects other electrical i.e. power stays on after engine turned off AND door has been opened.
4. Service department at LHM Jeep in Westminster, Colorado is completely non-responsive.

Thank you,
Really Sad New Jeep Owner

See my POST Above.

Since I have 2 different UConnect 8.4s doing the exact same thing. What’s the odds both are defective with the same issue????

Is there any relays or modules that the UConnect uses? Maybe there is something throwing off the wrong voltage or what not intermittently.

Any help on things to try would be great.

Maybe. Mine did it again this morning so I drove straight to Jeep. It was the first time that they actually witnessed the issues. The Jeep threw a code that was related to "AMP" and "Lost communication with radio". She's still there and I'm hopeful that the technician will be productive. I told the tech about the TSB for the other vehicles with the similar issues. I also told him about the post in this forum from someone who had their radio replaced but the new radio still had the problem.

We'll see. I guess, as is with anything else, it will be a process of elimination for them. It just infuriates me that there is a lack of recognition and communication. If I were in charge at Jeep, I'd send out a letter to every JL owner with this Uconnect build and communicate that the issue is known and that it is being worked on and that there will be a timely solution AND that in the meantime some sort of nicety is offered. Of course, all of that requires customer service. Customer service to a bunch of people who spent over $50k each. That's all.

Guess what? They're going to replace my radio. It's on order but it might be a week before it comes in. It's a start and finally someone at the dealership is treating me like a customer. The technician working on it has been so good today and maybe part of the reason is because he heard the tone of voice the service rep took with me and witnessed me telling the service rep to check himself. That's what makes it so awful for me. I literally have to tell the guy who is supposed to help me to check his attitude every time I deal with him. Anyway....me too, new radio coming. I'll keep you posted on whether mine works or not. I get your frustration. I'm in that boat with you.

All I know is that by pulling fuse F97 for 10 sec and then restarting the truck twice fixes the issue... until next time lol.
