The car stood for 2 weeks without starting the engine.
I removed the Fill Plug of the ZF 850RE transmission and drained about 3 liter ATF through it.
Then removed the pan and drained another 3 liter ATF , total 6 liters.
As far as I know, when changing the oil, you only need only 4 liters.
Is This Normal?

You have a drain plug!?
No, only the Fill Plug on the driver's side of the transmission.
In some YouTube videos I saw that this plug is on the passenger side.
What is the difference?

There should be one on each side. I access mine from the driver side because it’s a diesel so there’s not enough room to access the passenger side.

Good,
What about draining the ATF through the filler plug?

I just unbolted my pan at an angle and let it drop into a container. I had below the transmission pan.
I only filled it up again until it started to leak out the full hole

1. If you checked, how many liters were drained in total?
2. Was the engine warmed up to operating temperature or just cold?

I didn’t measure output. I had it warmed up for draining. I figured without the pan it all came out so I didn’t need to measure.

I wouldn’t worry about what anyone else drained from their transmissions. I would simply focus on falling the correct fill procedures to get yours refilled to the correct level. You will fill it to the fill hole, then follow the detailed procedures for temperature and gear shifting to recheck the level and add fluid to get you topped up. It is usually a good idea to check again after a few miles of real driving.

Also, dropping the pan is not a complete fluid drain. You still have several quarts of old fluid in the torque converter and lines. It takes several drain and fills to get the fluid back to almost new condition.

Do a quick search and you will find the refill instructions. Follow them meticulously.

Good luck!

Yes, but I don't know how many liters I should buy.
Some say you only need to drain 4 liters, some say 6.

Thanks

Can ZF Lifeguard 8 be mixed with Mopar 8 and 9 speed ATF as it cannot be drained completely?

I got 5.5 quarts out of my 8 speed auto the first time I did a dump and fill. I got almost 6.5 quarts back into it though.

I make sure I have 8 full new quarts of the ATF 8&9 and a new filter on hand before I do a dump and fill.

I've only ever used the Mopar 8&9. Six pack on Amazon.
