That is awesome. I have done rotors 5 times on my 350k mile 2500 truck, mostly from cracking. I have gone thru 16 sets of tires on that truck. But it still has the original clutch in it… I also don’t live where it is flat. On my daily commute before the pandemic, I could coast without pressing the accelerator for a 15 contiguous miles stretch of my 86 miles commute one way. But coming home was different, not uphill both ways.
350,000 miles divided by 16 sets of tires = ~21,875 miles per set of tires. Something sounds wrong there.

I have read several vehicle reviews where the reviewer unhappily reported the stop-start off choice was no longer available. Your concern about this could be largely out of your hands on your next Jeep…… save the manuals

It's a habit... Which part am I overthinking?
1. The Jeep Wrangler is not a race/sports car. Don’t drive it like one.
2. The transmission at a stop should stay in gear to allow you to quickly move out of the way if needed.

3. I don’t believe the drag on the engine with the A/C running is an issue, at best it’s probably less than 25 RPM’s. Never noticed a problem with mine, and unless you’re measuring RPM’s with a digital tachometer the stock tachometer probably isn’t that accurate.( it’s not the Space Shuttle) Back in the olden days with mechanical cooling fans we had an idle step up solenoid which increased rpm’s (sometimes a couple of hundred RPM’S) to help engage the mechanical viscous clutch cooling fan When the A/C was activated. With electric fans that idle step up isn't necessary and the pull or resistance on the engine minimal. Besides the ECU is measuring and controlling all of that.

4. If it really bothers you just turn on Auto Start Stop.(LOL)?

I appreciate all the responses.

I am not practicing shifting to neutral because I am racing, or hard stops or lugging the engine. That was an explanation of why I got into the habit. I have received good feedback on whether to continue in this habit, or to do something different going forward.

Best responses I have seen for why not to do it is modern ECMs got me covered and cooling of engine and transmission. It does not sound here like there is much concern for damage by continuing to do it.

I have ridden in plenty of vehicles where the rotors were obviously warped, mostly younger folk, but one was an old boss' F150 Fx4 (he ended up upgrading rotors to cross drilled and vented).

I bet you can warp rotors on a Wrangler with plus sized tires fairly easily if you DD it. Again, probably an age-of-driver thing.

Regardless, thanks for the feedback.

All terrain tires on a Heavy truck, hauling heavy loads and trailers on curvy roads. Nothing wrong, on My 2nd 3500 and 25k miles is about max on a ‘03 and ‘16. I’ve Never worn out a set of tires on any Jeep , traded a cherokee in with the OEM Goodyears with original brakes at 101k miles. Changed tire size but that doesn’t count.
