So I posted this on the Gladiator forum, but was requested to post it here since its a Wrangler.

This 2018 Wrangler Moab I'm buying has a taser in it I'm guessing. (not 100% sure because I didn't put it out and check. But things like Auto/Start turn off automatically and I could see a flashing red light under the steering column.

When I come to a stop in it during my test drive and wait a couple seconds, the ABS and Brake light come and flash. It goes away right after I start going again. Is this intended behavior? Should I have concerns and have the dealership resolve it first?

Thanks!

Not intended behavior I've seen.

If the tazer is on, you can go to the audio screen in the cluster and hold left, and press cancel cruise to cycle through the menu.

Doesn't necessarily mean it is a Tazer.

Could be the Tazer Brake Hold feature kicking in.

I would have them temporarily remove the Tazer to verify that everything behaves as expected.
I'd bet money the vehicle is at a dealer that has no idea the Tazer is installed nor any idea what a Tazer is.

Quite possibly, in which case OP would have to do it themselves...with the dealer's approval, of course.

I bought it and I'll pick it up this afternoon. I don't think the dealer has an clue about the taser. So I'll look up how to unmarry and remove it to double check things. I do have a 90 day dealer warranty, so if something is wrong I'll take it back and have them fix it. The test drive it did just fine though. Drove just like my Gladiator with the exception of it being lifted with tires and wheel swap. Everything under it was fine, just normal drain line on the diff and stuff. Seemed like a safe purchase.

They messaged me this morning and said it came with a "buttload" of extra parts and stuff that they didn't keep in it for test drives. I didn't ask what all that might be because it's not a big deal. I hope to be surprised though lol.

It does sound like the Tazer brake hold feature, I use it quite frequently at stops, drive thrus etc. Stop as normal, push brake pedal a little more firm until the abs and brake light flash in the instrument cluster and let off brake. It should hold the vehicle until you press the gas pedal, then it will release. Just be attentive to it because mine has released on me before without pressing the gas.

I just lifted Jeep and put on 35’s. This has been happening and I was not sure what the deal was. This makes so much sense. I just went out and tested it. Yup that’s it. Was driving me crazy. I noticed if you press brake hard while starting it won’t show until seat belt is on. OMG, what else will lI find the taser doing. 😂

I know this is an older thread....

Wondering if y'all found a fix for this?

I have a similar issue, where the brake and ABS lights flash after shifting from PARK to drive.....the brakes lockup. If I shift to neutral, then reverse then drive they go away and all is fine. 21 with 40k miles.

Has not happened to me yet while driving, as yours did....
