I’m planning a trip out to Moab (like everyone else and their brother/sister ;) ) and I am wondering if anything is required. Here in Colorado they require an OHV permit for a lot of trails. Do they require the same thing in Utah?

just to get into the parks but most of the normal trails jeeps do not need any special passes. If doing elephant hill, which I highly recommend you need a pass/permit and hells revenge and fins and things you need a pass but they are cheap and good for 7 days.

Where would I get a pass for those trails?

you get the fins and hells revenge at the start there is a booth and if nobody is there you just put your money in an envelope and into a drop.. the elephant hill you get it at the park office at the start and probably can get it on line..you also have to pay an entrance fee into the park but you pay as you drive in..

You will only need a permit entry fee for the Sand Flats Recreation area if you plan to run Hells Revenge, Fins and Things, Baby Lionback, or Porcupine Rim or camp near those trails. If you plan on going to area BFE, you will need a permit for Coyote Canyon if you choose to run that one.

Otherwise, the Arches and Canyonlands National Parks will require an entry fee, and White Rim, Elephant Hill, and a few others in Canyonlands require a full backcountry permit. If you plan on getting the backcountry permits for Elephant Hill, remember they are limited to so many a day.

Enjoy!

I have done Elephant hill 3X (always in june) and last year the ranger told us he could not remember the allotment ever being full. we have never seen any other vehicles altho a few hikers..last year there were 4 jeeps and Elephant hill limits to 3 vehicles in a group...I asked how many permits were handed out for that day he said just you guys..I asked if we could all run together being there were no other permits and he said no you need to split up..I asked out of curiosity why and he said they did not want the trail to be too congested..........we were the only 4 jeeps that day.....I asked how far back did the groups need to be and he said to keep 1/2 hour apart...not sure how close they regulate it but we did see them ticketing a dog owner for having a dog...the person tried eluding the rangers by hiding but everyone in the parking lot was pointing her out..was like 105 degrees and signs everywhere no dogs....

Utah Non-Resident OHV Permits FAQs - Utah Outdoor Recreation https://recreation.utah.gov/off-hig...sident-ohv-permits-street-legal-vehicle-faqs/:

Does my car/jeep/truck, etc., need a Utah non-resident OHV permit?
If your machine is registered as a “passenger vehicle,” it does not require a Utah non-resident OHV permit because it is not considered an off-highway vehicle (OHV).
And if you actually want the trails to say open.... Buy the trail use sticker, dont be that guy in the trails without paying up. The funds go towards the maintaining of trails and it also shows the state how many people use the trail system, which keep them open.
