There's a thread about it here: https://www.jlwranglerforums.com/forum/threads/anybody-tried-the-apex-steering-boost-kit.69239/ I'm pretty close to pulling the trigger myself.
Thanks for the link!..

2019 LJUR made this comment ... " One of the reasons for doing the hydro assist is to take the load off of the steering box shaft so it doesnt start to leak at the bottom seal. This would not do that and so it will still be a problem with running large tires. " .... what is your take on that comment? .. Thanks!

I haven't heard of anyone having that problem with the JL steering box, but I think one of the several "sector sector braces" available would help mitigate that potential problem. I'm only going to 37's at this, I don't really want the expense and hassle of hydro unless I go to 40's in the future.

Yes, good point on the Sector braces.. I have seen the one from Synergy... it seems like a quality option... but.... $385 for the Apex kit + $250 for the Synergy kit... well... it gets you thinking... perhaps is better to get a full hydro assist kit (or at least buy in stages)...

There is also the alternative of porting your existing steering column like the Redneck Ram... also an affordable option...

Been running the redneck ram for 6 years and 110k miles on my jk without a hitch.ne finger steering going 85 mph and its balls in the rocks. The box out of my JL is currently at West texas Offroad getting ported for hydro assist as we speak. Its a great kit for up to 37 inch tires. 40+ tires and you may want the beefier pump and 1.75 diameter ram from PSC. I honestly wouldn't waste my money on anything else if your into offroading your rig

Good info... would you mind me asking how much are you paying for porting your box? and.. does it include the ram ? Thanks!

I think for them to port you box and send you back all the mounting hardware and ram its 699. I prefer to make my own hose using the aeroquip hose and field serviceable stainless fittings. I also weld and have a good machine so that’s money I don’t have to pay somebody right there

I am running the power up kit and cooler. I set my pressure to 1900psi. Stock was around 750.
I have no issues steering while the jeep is either up on a wall or when one side is pinned.

I do want to port my box and run a ram while still using the Apex powered up pump...I think will be the hot setup for the 2.0 and diesel crowd since PSC wont be making kits for them.

when I talk about steering on a wall, I am referring to this...

Hey.. I guess West Texas have no option to "Core" for porting.. with that I mean... they send you a ported JL box + ram .. then you send your box and they refund you... I see that option for JK.. .not for JL... Question... how long does it take for them to port the box and send the kit?.... My JL is my daily driver.. I have no other vehicle.. Thanks!

Unfortunately your jeep will be down a couple of weeks at least. I went through this with my jk. Luckily my jl isn’t my DD. You have to mail them your box which is a few days, they port it which is about a week and then they mail it back. Right now they ran out of rams so my box is sitting on a shelf. They should have more in a couple of weeks. It’s worth the wait for me but it sucks if you drive your shit everyday

Thanks for the reply message... yeah.... it is tempting to do the upgrade.. it seems quite cost-effective in my opinion... I wonder if at some point West Texas is going to have enough surplus JL boxes to allow Core exchange... that would be awesome!!
