If you add the accessory switches after the fact I believe you dont get hookups in both locations, IE under the hood AND passenger foot well, I can't remember which one you miss out on

Hmm, I guess I need to look into that option more. I didn't realize it came with hookups in those locations. I thought it was just a simple switch pod and everything needed to run directly to the switches.

To answer OP though, I ordered my Willys with the least amount of tech I could. Only power doors/windows. I did get the 7" screen that came with the package but really only for the Alpine upgrade.

Mine's weirdly equipped, but I like it. No tech or safety packages. No back up sensors. 5" radio, which I really like because I have knobs for AC controls. It does have LED headlights though, which I'm also glad to have. Power windows and locks. It has cruise control but I never use it, on any vehicles I own. It's like something between a Willys Sport and a Willys. The only thing I don't like is that the sound of the stereo sucks at highway speeds.

It's nice to know I'm not the only one! JLU Willys sport, manual. Only factory upgrade was the hardtop. I don't even plug the doors back in when I have to put them on. Plus researching and adding upgrades myself is just cool.

Did you skip the leather? That is for sure something that makes no sense pricewise, for a dedicated off roader.

I have come to have a lot of respect for leather for offroad (unless you are planning on leaving it out topless in the rain). My past few pickups have had leather and they have weathered mud, dogs, and wet clothes very well. Leather is tough stuff. Yes, it shows wear, but as long as it isn't that super soft goochi glove leather, it will take a lot of abuse. But, I also think a Jeep should have a vinyl seat option.

On my special-order XR, I decided to skip the safety packages, navigation, and forward camera. Obviously, I understand that these things all have their place. Active safety is great in many circumstances, but I use my Jeeps primarily for overlanding, where the technology doesn’t really come into play. Same with NAV; I prefer aftermarket solutions. And I’ve never been sold on the front camera. Tried it on a Gladiator; didn’t love it.

So I wound up ordering a $60k+ Jeep without a lot of technology options. Probably a weird build, but I’m curious if others have taken a similar path?

(To be clear: I’m not judging anyone else’s choices. We all have our reasons! Just trying to figure out how weird my build might be.)

I wish modern Jeeps weren't so laden with complex electronics.

They are these vehicles' weak link in terms of long-term durability, IMO.

My new 2022 will be a tech stripper for sure, A Willys Sport 2dr. with A/C the only option. I feel in 10 years it will retain more value then one with all the high tech options of today higher priced Jeeps. Plus since its a TOY it will look like the day I purchased it and probably only get around 2,000 miles per year of street use only.
