How much is a new windshield, parts and labor?
Safelight will quote you $565 for OEM. But I had mine done through my insurance company and it was less than $400. Several people posted their recipts on the Cracked Windshield Club thread and one Jeeper was able to negotiate a lower price with Safelight. The Safelight tech told me that the price varies with location and you save $30-$40 by going to a Safelight location. My dealership told me that they will just take the Jeep to Safelight or have them come out and charge for that. One person on this forum was quoted $1,200 at the dealership.

Options? Yes, get yourself a good insurance company with 0 deductible for glass breakage, I have Geico. I went through 3 or 4 windshields on my JK and have already replaced once on my JL.
Have $100 deduct....not terrible. Will update after this Friday replacement deal.

I have replaced windshields on my Wranglers at least once a year, every year, since the JK first came out.

Disagree. Respectfully.
I carry no homeowner insurance, and only liability on my vehicles.
I’ve done this for decades, ever since I was able to be debt-free, which was my immediate goal after college.
I can afford to replace a windshield.
Insurance companies didn’t build the tallest skyscrapers in every city by paying out more than they take in.
Self-insure if you can afford to.
I’ve saved tens of thousands of dollars by doing so.

My 06 xB has had ~6 windshields put in. All covered under insurance. Totally expecting a replacement soon on my week old jeep. I actually didn't trade it because I figured the Car Fax was screwed.

After #3 or 4 (early on) Nationwide said that if I made another claim they would drop my comprehensive. I drove with a crack that started 4" right of my rear view mirror, then expanded across my immediate line of sight and 2" from the left of the edge of the window, for roughly 4 years.

Got married, got USAA and also moved to a state with awesome glass repair laws (SC) and had a few chips, but not a full replacement in 4 years. Also glad my ride to work is 15 minutes and mostly small streets.

We are now needing a 4th windshield at 15K in less than 12 months. Our Rubicon came with a frosted windshield at delivery which the dealership replaced. Now needing another new one from an rock strike and run. This one lasted less than 30 days. There has got to me something seriously wrong with the windshields on these JLs. I'm used to getting about three years on a windshield.

Over 14,000 miles now... still original windshield... still no cracks or chips. Still on my 4th Wrangler with zero cracks or chips.

What do y'all do, drive through hail storms? Tailgate dump trucks?

Not really. A recent poll on this very forum showed that a huge majority of owners have not replaced their windshield.
