Did you pay for a dealer installed security system?

Been a while since I messed with an aftermarket alarm, but IIRC the buttons where a combination of programing and valet mode. You can see where it came through the floor mat. It seems like it should be a light or something, but it has the momentary type switch at the top. It doesn't seem to do anything when I open doors or turn on interior lights. All other lights (instrument cluster, etc.) are working. Next time I go to the dealership, I ask them, but I don't expect much from them.

I'll second this. Although dealerships will rarely tell you, it is common for many of them to install aftermarket alarms/tracking systems in their stock to prevent vehicles from being stolen off the lot. When they sell the Jeep, they will disable the alarm, but just tuck the wiring away instead of removing it.Looks like a little momentary switch used in aftermarket alarms.
It's actually not meant to be in the carpet, the tabs on the barrel are to keep it in a panel, a lot of time they're put in the kick panels. So, if it was an alarm or tracking device, would the momentary switch been to deactivate by stepping on it? The clear part is not a light of any sort?
Hey OP, you could simply debunk this one by giving it the ‘ol smell test. Please use caution.Looks like some sort of a butt probe that needs an extension... ?
