Been running without carpet for about 4 months (we get a lot of rain and I'm not always the best at getting the roof back up in time lol), and I'm just wondering what these pad things are/what they are made of in the driver and passenger areas. They are right on top of the floor and pretty darn flush - they don't move or anything. They're starting to chip away and this sticky black stuff is underneath. It's probably just padding. Just wondering.

That's sound deadening material. It (somewhat) reduces vibration and road noise. Some will buy their own and layer it all along their firewall, floors, doors, etc.
