How do all you stubby antenna folks know if the parking garage you just pulled in to is too low before you smack your roof rack on something?

Is there any way to keep these antennas from being stolen? Loctite?
I guess you could use the non permanent locktite, but I really wouldn’t sweat it too much

I installed the AntennaX 13" the moment I got the JL home. A little bit of blue Loctite on the threads just for peace of mind.

I wouldn't worry about having a $25 stubby antenna stolen...I would be more worried about a $500 winch or a $200 pair of off road LED lights.

Thanks!

No issues with AM/FM/XM Reception?
I honestly haven't listened to terrestrial radio (AM/FM) in years so I really don't know or care if it impacts reception. I just needed that massive OEM antenna gone and my OCD wouldn't allow me to just remove it without a replacement hahahahaha. And this antenna has nothing to do with XM satellite reception so that is good to go.

This is the stubby one I use. I love it and have had zero issues with reception. Found it online for around twenty bucks. Will be transferred to my JL upon arrival.

Doesn’t every parking garage have a sign indicating safe height?

Yup and they're usually plastic hanging on chains an inch or two lower than the actual max height to allow for minor suspension travel from vehicles coming in with heavy loads. Learned this when I used to drive delivery trucks downtown Toronto many years ago.

Don't expect all of the airport max height signs to be made of plastic. I was riding in an airport shuttle van when the driver drove into the wrong lane, didn't see the panel and hit it! It was steel! He smashed the fiberglas shell over the driver's seat so you could see daylight!
