RPM was working on a more robust packaging option for this. I wonder if it ever came to fruition?

Btw, to add to paranoia, I had the CAN- wire come loose on mine, just enough to break the connection, but not externally visible. It made the Jeep unstartable. I spent many hours on it before shelling out $1200 to have it debugged at two shops before cause was discovered. I shared this with Jon at RPM and he said he would look into it, but I never heard back and didn't follow up myself. The current housing for the controller is more like a hobby box than a commercially sound solution. After all that, I still use the controller - so much peace of mind concerning temps.
Also there are options to use extra connectors to make the system easily reversible if a problem happens on the trail. I used this on my install. See the main controller thread if interested.

Added a box to mine this morning. Wires out the bottom. Provides additional layer of protection from the elements.

Where did the CAN wire become disconnected?

Cool. What box?
ip67 from Amazon

LeMotech Junction Box IP65... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08161PBP6?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

had to cut down some notches inside the box, used a gasket on the side mount, let wires out through hole in the bottom. Was able to situate the bottom hole such that it encompassed the box seam, so I did not have to rewire anything . Left a hole in the bottom, just to allow it to breath. I did seal the connectors, so I’m not too worried about water splashing up the hole where the wires exit. I think this low dollar solution will work for keeping the elements at bay.

Man,

I almost sent it on one of these controllers and was going to hold off on install until the thaw mod releases but I guess I’ll just save my money and keep it stock. It doesn’t seem as if RPM wants to actually improve or fix the part? Idk, not something I’m willing to take a risk with. Maybe I’m just paranoid lol

Why would a Sad Robot do this to that poor controller.
All joking aside I don't know how this thing could have gotten wet. We installed it last June and then November my Jeep went down and sat until I sold it in May of this year. It barely rains here and the Jeep was under a cover from Nov-May.

I stopped washing the Jeep around November and never hosed off the engine bay after the fan controller went in. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

I’m just going to quote myself from a year ago

Pretty sure someone has a a voodoo doll version of your Jeep somewhere. Anyone from your past come to mind when I say that?
