Another ESS issue- Auto park?

I couldn't find a thread on this ess issue yet so here it is. 25 JLUR , 2.0. The ESS stops the engine for first-time in morning after coming to a stop, engine starts back up when I release brake and immediately goes into auto park. Screen tells me to put trans in park then select gear. After this the ess won't work until next shut off. The screen says Auto Start Stop not ready. No warning lights on dash. Jeep is in normal configuration, doors on, seat belt on, no mods. I don't mind losing the ess, but don't like having something wrong. I'll take it to dealer, but would like to avoid it.

I'd take it to a dealer. That sounds pretty screwed up.
