Do new Willy’s come with Mud Terrains or All Terrains? I think for 2024 you can choose but before it was MTs only for the Willy’s and they weren’t as desirable to me as the ATs on the Rubicon.
You could *easily* sell the M/Ts that come on the Willys and pick up a set of Rubicon take-offs and either break even or come close to it.

My 24 Willys said Nexun A/T on the build sheet but came with M/Ts.

I posted this on FB and thought I'd post here as well to see how the opinions/answers align.

Currently going back and forth on which 2024 model to order to replace my 2019 Sport S.

Right now, I'm leaning towards the Willy's over the Rubicon. The ~$7k price delta is hard for me to justify with my current Jeep currently being a pavement princess. Something about the Willy's when I build it on the Jeep website just calls to me, not sure what it is.

However, I see it said a lot that "If you were even thinking Rubicon and don't get it, you'll regret it!" I do have a few questions that I'm hoping this group can help.

Does the 2024 Willy's come with the bigger brake setup that the Rubicon and Sahara get?

What are some of the other things I'd potentially miss if I don't go Rubicon?

A few items I can tell are more off-road inclined suspension, front facing trail cam, auto dimming rear view mirror, front lockers, cool looking Rubicon hood, and non-blacked out grill and wheels. What else am I missing?

It seems that if I really wanted a colored grill, Rubicon hood, or the Rubicon wheels I could just buy them after the fact and still come out ahead in the $$$ department?

I feel like there must be something else I'm missing in that $7k price delta?
I did 23 Willys XR. Almost same vehicle as Rub except lockers and sway bar disconnect. Rubi better rock crawler and Willys better in snow and sand. Snow is a big deal to me. Either are very capable off road vehicles. I don't plan on doing anything that will tear my Jeep up, but do want it to be able to get over any pass (don't plan on Black Bear, but could). My old Jeep Commander JK trail rated 4X4 has gotten me everywhere in CO I wanted to go and hike, but I did bang the bottom once, no damage...

What were some of the things you didn't like about the 24s? I currently have a 2019 so wondering what I might dislike as well.
Not a fan of the incredibly wide infotainment unit and remodeled dash. Hate the antenna being embedded in the windshield.

I bought used '21 Rubicon in Nov '22 and got a very favorable price compared to a new one at that time.

That said, were I to buy a new '24 I would probably build on the Willys platform.

They made some great improvements to the Willys for 24 making it an even better model. If I were ordering today, I would probably go with a willys.

THAT SAID, I wouldn't order a 24 either because I don't like the general changes to the JL for 24, like the grill, bigger screen and power seats to name a few.

Have you considered also looking for a new 23 rubicon still on the lot? With current discounts they may be cheaper than a 24 willys.

Surprised no one has mentioned axles. If you asked me the biggest difference between the two, I'd say the axles.

Sway bar disconnect, lockers, stickers, etc can be added to a Willy's with a little work. Axles are a lot more expensive to swap out. Axles are the base of the build, they determine max tires size, lowest gear ratio, required transfer case/engine torque etc. If you're good with a Dana 30 in front, go for it.

I thought I read the 24 willys comes with same axles and brakes as rubicon, 4.10 gears, high clearance fenders, rear locker and 33 a/ts. so it is a rubicon lite now.

I've only had my 2024 Willys with XR package for less than 2 months now but have zero regrets not stepping up to the Rubicon. It's used as a daily driver, around town type of vehicle with the occasional highway commute to work.

It does.. you lose the 4:1 TCASE a front locker and the front disco, and some standard equipment.

Huh. A quick google search, and I can't find an answer either way.
If that is true, I might have to start stepping down from my 'rubicon high-horse'...

If the Willy's is ~7k cheaper, you could get an atlas tcase, some cheap disconnects and still be ahead... then add a front locker down the line...

ok I'm not crazy then. To me that would have been perfect starting place if they'd done that on the 23 willys. I don't really care much having a electronic swaybar disco, and would loved to have had the tan cloth interior. I would have missed the 4:1 transfer case, and that was a huge huge reason I went with the rubicon.

Same wide M210/220 as rubicon.. scroll down to page 6 or so and see the wide 210/wide 220
