No, fuck that, I know I’m not this weak. I’ve been to the gym.

I first started trying to install RC rear LCA skids. I got the shock bolt off, but could not get the control arm bolt off, no matter what I did. I tried everything, from every position, every angle, upside down, got good leverage, but could not get it off!!

Ok, I give up on that. I also have an engine oil/tranny skid to install. Let’s try the motor mounts. Same thing, no matter what I tried they would not come off!!!

So now, here I am broken and defeated, with my brand new tools from Home Depot and no skids anywhere on the Jeep. How the hell do you all get these damn bolts off?

And now my triceps are sore.

Edit: also just found a cut on my finger.
Air tools and mechanics gloves. HUGE ass breaker bar, and rage. If it fully refuses?
Find a new bolt. Then cut the bastard off w/ a grinder, or if friends can bring fun toys (like Plasma cutter or a torch).

Also: lift heavier at the gym, but even that has limits.

Jeep Wrangler JL Am I really this weak?! WTF {filename}

This is how I do it.
I have a Ryobi one, but this little tool is a life changer in general. I'm kicking myself thinking about how long I waited to get one. "But a drill does the same thing!" NOPE.

Don't rule out an electric 1/2 inch impact either. Unless it's more important to have a cordless one to take on the trail, you get more power for your money and don't have to worry about batteries. I've spun off stuff with my electric that the cordless couldn't budge.

Retired from Corrections....I have stories.
I borrowed one of those once doing shocks on the Audi. Would not budge the shock bolt. That bolt was spec'd at 110 ft lbs + 180* if I remember. Impact should have buzzed it out like butter but a steel bolt in an aluminum part with 10+ years and 200,000 miles in salt country locked that bastard up tight. I snapped the passenger side bolt with my breaker and it took heat and beat for the driver side to come out
Just know that the battery and charge state of the battery can drastically impact the tool performance. Mine also has settings. Was your tool set to the highest setting?

There is also a huge performance delta between something like a Milwaukee or a DeWalt versus the rest.

Impact for sure to loosen these tight bolts/nuts.

For installation, the torque spec for the stock and Mopar long LCAs is given as torque + degrees. The torque is much lower than the spec where it is just torque. Torque it to this much easier to obtain lower ft-lb then use the impact to turn the bolt/nut the rest of the way. It is, I recall, 103 ft lb + 145 degrees, which is way easier to do than 195 ft lb (if you have an impact to do the 145 degrees).

I’ve never had this problem cause I’ve had this 12v impact wrench that you plug into your car since previous vehicles to rotate tires quickly but also works for everything under the vehicle too https://amzn.to/3ZHgD7p

Don’t fully understand the torque plus degrees. 🤔

I just got my Tekton torque wrench that goes all the way up to 150 today. I'm also planning on getting an impact gun after work. If all else fails, I already have an appointment to drop off the Jeep on Friday to replace my bowed springs and I'll just ask them to torque those few bolts. Worst case scenario I'll give up and just ask them to install all the skids, but I want to give it another shot tonight.

Look up the torque spec for your model year. It may be different from what I posted.

From what I remember it was turned up and fresh off the charger.

Hence why i upgraded. But this new one is HEAVY!
