Am I Missing Something?

I had planed to do as much of my own maintenance as I possibly could. So, I looked up how to change the differential oils. Every video I saw showed there to be a drain and a fill plug. However, mine does not seem to have the drain plug. Am I really going to have to go old school with this and open the cover? I thought they did away with that?

Also, there looks to be a skid plate right below my transfer case. It does have a drain and fill plug. However, the plate is bolted on one side but welded on the other. Pretty much making it not removable to actually service the transfer case. Is there a reason for that? T

They removed the plug on 21s I think. For the diffs.

How often do people change differential oil? 20k to 50k miles?

Both differentials on my 2021 JLU have fill and drain plugs.

Thanks. That sucks they removed it. It was so much easier to pull the bolt and drain vs remove the cover. Oh well, such is life.

How often do people change differential oil? 20k to 50k miles?

I was going to change mine around 5K just to get the original out of it etc. Guess Ill wait longer now.
