So I am contemplating moving the backup camera from the center of the spare tire and placing it somewhere else. This will allow me to use the spare tire to carry things like trackboards, maybe a trash bags, or any other things I may need without losing the camera... Anyone has moved the camera to an other location? Photos and suggestions are going to be appreciated. TIA.

Only other worthwhile place I've seen is the center of the rear bumper.

there is a thread here where the guy drilled a hole and mounted it in the hard top above the glass.

I did this in my Sahara, but it had factory bumper. I would guess you could do it in an aftermarket, just have to drill through steel instead of plastic........

If the camera was relocated, would the “software Overlay” lines still show up correctly? I have always assumed that the ‘software overlay’ lines somehow were based on the actual position of the camera. That said, my assumptions are often proven to be incorrect. Are they?

I have a feeling that they won't correspond to the new position of the camera, but it is something that can eqasily be experimented with and figure out what is what by try and error.

The lines are still there they just look like they’re going up hill. I don’t have any pics of the screen as it was a couple years ago but the image otherwise is the same, just a lower perspective. However, I chose to turn the lines off in camera settings.
