I took this attached photo of a new friend’s Jeep, who I met at a gas station. I thought it was a “unique” take on the whole ducking thing.

I’m all for the ducking, and I smile whenever the chuckleheads on this forum pretend to be anti-ducking trolls. Ducking is harmless and fun - and so is the anti-duck trolling I read here.

By the way, the founder of the movement, Allison Parliament, was a Facebook friend of mine. She died recently, within the last year.

That's funny ! but for me it isn't about a duck. It's about jeeping in a different day and time. We were a family of people who loved to wander the wilderness.
If jeeps would have been around Lewis an Clark would have been in a jeep.
I participated in waving at other jeeps for many years , but there is a divide in our country amongst jeepers even.
Those that pose and those who are out living a life of adventure.
As someone who first took a cj 7 to moab in 1980 , sleeping under the stars , wandering aimlessly with no navigational aid but a blm map.
It's hard to get excited about my neighbors playing barbie jeep throwing potting soil on a wet jeep , spraying it down some and posting pictures.

I don't hate her , I liked her .
I'm not mad. I feel sorry she hasnt experienced what others of us has. Im just not into playing jeep.

Glad the dealerships don’t ask if you are into taking your rig into the wilderness or you can’t buy one huh?

We bought ours not for taking it somewhere we don’t know where the hell we are but, because we wanted a convertible and not a car. Guess we are playing Jeep then…

I personally don't care if you want to fill your Jeep with ridiculous useless tacky ducks. It's your Jeep. If the ducking thing makes you happy, then go and do it.

What severely annoys me is how people think it's acceptable to impose ducks upon others. I don't care what your intentions are. If you don't see any ducks in a Jeep, they don't play that game.
DON'T PUT A DUCK ON THAT JEEP!

WTF are we supposed to do with it? You're just making us carry and dispose of your trash. Would you put your fast food trash on someone's Jeep? Hopefully not. Don't be so ignorant as to think your duck can't be the same thing.

If someone doesn't play the duck game, all you're doing is having resources extracted, manufactured into a duck, use it to annoy people who then have to forward it to a landfill. It's quite irresponsible behavior.
Let's play the game then.

1. The ritual of leaving toddler bath toys on someone else's Jeep.
2. The collection and comparison of said toys that is beyond healthy behavior for an adult.
3. Shunning anyone who doesn't follow the cult rules.
4. You aren't allowed to question the duck cult.
5. You are expected to be loyal to the founder, even though she has been exposed as threatening people who were trying to have a Jeep/duck business without cutting her in.

Consider that they're not pretending, and that the offense is real. Real enough to describe their childish feelings and tell everyone about their offense.

You are the one playing with children's toys and somehow people who don't are childish?

Man, there's only a few topics that can generate this many comments in such a short amount of time. Angry grills, bubbling paint, Amsoil and ducks. FWIW, I love to give out ducks. It makes most Jeep owners smile and pisses off the rest. Both are immensely gratifying to me.

I can't believe I am about to say this, but the duck is the least offensive thing about that Jeep.

Look at the bright side, that duck was obviously bought by the owner, not put on it by another Jeeper. Phew :whew:

So, the people with 50 ducks on their dash are buying the ducks themselves as decorations, right? Or maybe they are gifts? I do not know how one could accumulate that many ducks from total strangers.
Or they hang out with the crowd that does the ducking and they are passed around pretty easily.

I know some people hate the fact that Jeepers like to duck.

But, as someone who is new Jeep owner, it's something fun to see that someone appreciates my rig.

My dad is in the hospital and has been for over a week. I go to see and stay with him every day for a while between my fulltime job and my parttime job and being a wife. And when I come out to my Jeep, it makes me smile to see a duck sitting on it. So as someone who is in a place often full of sadness, it's a nice little pick me up to see after a long day. I have ducks in the back that I give out too...it makes me feel good that someone else is getting appreciation.

Try not to get mad when you might see an unwanted duck on your Jeep. You never know what the person who gave it to you is going through...it might just be the one thing that makes them feel good that day.
I don't get mad about it, but I don't reciprocate, nor do I display the ducks on my dash. Not my thing. To each his or her own, that is what is so great about the Jeep thing....

Just bring back the waving. I hardly get waved at anymore. I never get ducked thankfully. It happened twice and I didn't mind it. If people want to do it then go ahead. I won't participate, but if others want to give me a duck I will just pass it along or trash it.

Yea ducks really probably shouldnt be one of those
Neither should those plastic balls from the kids ball pits, but that doesn't stop my dogs. 🤷‍♂️

Doesn't help that my granddaughter keeps giving them to them and then laughing as they destroy her toys. 🤔
