AEV 2.5 Dual Sport gave way more than 2.5”. Looking at shorter springs.
No rubbing at full flex
JK Borahs have a wider offset, which I like. Especially with the narrower axles and wider flares. I wish they were an inch wider and may run spacers.
I like the way they look without the rings. Most people don’t run these as beadlocks and just use the protection rings. Like the beadlock capable Jeep XR and 392 wheels.
Looks great! Thanks for the info. No rubbing at flex, but what about full lock steering? I’m assuming no, but just wanted to double check. This is the size I’m wanting to run on my std width axles and steering lock was my only concern.

I’m not getting any rubbing at full lock turning either, but like I said the AEV lift gave me quite a bit more lift than I wanted. I know it’s designed around their heavy front bumper and to not sag under a loaded overlanding rig so I expected more than 2.5”, but this is equal to 4.5” lift in the rear.

Alright finally chose my final combination of wheels/tire com

Decided my final JL/JK wheel/tire set up. And this one is for good, I promise lol
Put the JK spec Borah's back on because(in my humble opinion) I really like the 2 dr Jeeps with wheel/tire poke. Slapped on my 37 Cooper STT Pro's after reviewing 5 different tires within the last year. STT Pros were the best overall out of the KO2's, Nittos Ridge Grapplers, and Mickey Thompsons

Specs:
37x12.5x17
white AEV Borah(JK spec) +4mm
1.5 inch lift

Wanted to share this information in case anyone was going to go with this particular set up

Thank you all for all your contribution to this thread!
AEV didn't have STT Pro as a recommended tire for that rim with the beadlocks. How are they running? That's the exact same setup I want, but was disappointed not to see that tire on the list. I need to call them and ask if it's not on the list intentionally or if they just didn't review that tire combination.

I am running my Borah's without the beadlocks rings actually.

@bumpit is running beadlock ring on STT Pro's on 40's. Don't think he has run into any issues

Can confirm no issues mounting the stt pro with the AEV beadlock ring. I've not put a ton of miles on it but it or wheeled it really with the coopers yet but will in the next month or so.

Edit: about 4k miles on it with no issues. Including about a 2200 mile round trip to wheel.

Sure thing. Any bit of substantial articulation would likely put the tire right into the fender. Here's a pic of mine on stock Rubicon suspension and 35s. Not much up travel. On the road it was entirely fine, no rubbing issues whatsoever.

This looks great! Can you share a side picture of your Jeep now that you have the Onyx rings installed? I myself am debating whether to get Black Borahs with Onyx rings or Onyx Borahs with Black rings (would have to get powder coated on my own). Tough choice.

I have a set of JK Onyx Borah's that I'm debating doing exactly the same thing. Here's the best photo I have at the moment of the JL spec Galaxy Black Borah's with the Onyx protection rings. Hope that helps!

That looks really awesome! Unfortunate that it now makes my decision harder. ;) Thank you. If you do the Onyx Borahs with black rings then nobody is going to mind if you share pictures of those down the road. Wheels can look very different on vehicles depending on the color of the car so seeing on a real life Nacho is great for me.

Definitely! I am waiting to see what BFG does with the KO3's that are floating around. I may put a set of those on the JK Borah's. I will try and snap some updated photos. Changed up several things on the Jeep since that photo was taken.

Appears that AEV has been out of stock of Onyx Borahs for some time.

Does anyone happen to know if they are planning on selling the only non-black JL Borah wheel option and, if so, when they might happen to get these back in stock?

I have five brand new in box Onyx JK ones if you cannot find a set. I might end up going a different direction and ultimately not using these. Shipping would be a nightmare though.

Thanks Josh. Sometimes I feel like my 2 door is the little brother to yours. Gets the hand-me-downs (in a good way). I am leaning toward Onyx over Black but I also much prefer the offset of the JL Borahs (all from pictures mind you). I do think that shipping would be a hassle beyond just what would be a very high cost.

I contacted AEV asking about Onyx JL Borahs availability. They very kindly responded and gave an ETA of December due to ongoing supply chain challenges. I will almost certainly wait. I just installed a CFII and regeared to 5.13s. I can give myself a few months before moving onto next phase.

You won't be disappointed with the JL version. The offset is perfect if you don't want a ton of tire poke. I am swapping to the JK version mainly because I happen to have a set, but I also plan to run a 13.50 tire on my next set so the extra width will be a bonus. How are you liking the 5.13's? I have been running them since January and really like them.
