Adding Pre-Runner Lights

Hey everyone! New member with my first question.

I own an ‘18 Wrangler Sahara and will be adding pre-runner lights. I’d like the to come on with the headlights so I figure a simple fuse box tap will do the trick. However, the PDC is not clear on which fuse it is.

Before I unplug fuses to see what doesn’t turn on, figured I would poll the group here.

It's on here as other including myself have installed them.

I know it's the 20amp fuse for the 12V power source that is powered when you start your jeep, so they will come on while running and then go off when you turn the jeep off.

Going off memory I think it's fuse 52. But don't quote me on that open the fuse box and it's listed on the lid.

Thanks! Will check that out but I believe the cover says exterior lights 1 and 2... I’d prefer them to come on with either the dogs or headlights

This would your front 12V on your dash, not the rear one as that is hot all the time.

Well you do have a Sahara, so I think you have more options because you probably have the DRL already. I have a sport so, using the front 12V power works and my run as DRL.

Try using the search feature, I know others have done it and it's posted on here for Sahara, or Rubicon with all the fancy stuff.

I've been considering prerunner lights so this is of interest to me. Have you thought about tapping the parking lights?


Here's a note from Oracle's prerunner light product page:

Note: DRL wire cannot be used as a power source - Tapping into Park Lights will give manual control over LED accessory during daytime driving - LED accessory will turn on automatically in night mode when switch is set to AUTO - For full automatic control over the LED accessory use fuse F52 in the engine compartment fuse panel.

Super helpful info guys! Based on the wiring diagrams AUeng posted, F26 looks like the one I’ll need to try. Labeled as “Headlamp Foglamp Switch”

I don't imagine current draw for prerunner lights would be an issue, but worth double checking.

That kinda confirms what I said. Either F26 or F29 should do the trick. I do have the Oracle kit as well.
