Adding a house key into JL key fob

So i searched for this and couldn't find any results so i figured i would do it myself..
I am basically trying to solder/weld the house key into the JL key fob! that way its all compact and when i need to get in the house i flip it open.

I bought the JL blank key blade on eBay for cheap. I will clone the house key and then cut the portion just after the handle, the question is, what should i use to solder this for best results?? Would i need to weld it? Or is soldering enough for this??

Has anyone done this?

JL ME hit the nail on the head. It's not likely you'll be able to achieve a good enough bond between the two keys to ensure it doesn't break off in the lock the first time you try.

True, and if it broke in the lock then it will be stuck

I have no clue how to do that, but I love the idea. Just hope your fob battery doesn't die on you when you are out and about as the whole point of having the Jeep key with the fob is so you can get in with a dead fob.

Thats a good point, would probably keep the original JL key portion hidden somewhere inside the engine bay..

I keep the key FOB on a key ring, attached to a carabiner, and I keep my house key and my mom's house key on the ring., The FOB is pretty big anyway, so I don't want to carry it in my pocket.

Its not the size or the weight of it really, its just that we never use the metal key inside the fob, so i thought its a good way to make use of the flip mechanism

I just checked, the good ones from Schlage or similar go for about $500 for the kit, and thats a grade 1 security level
