@rizej - sorry man. My issue was definitely different. Only my esc came on no matter what and it didn’t go off until I turned off the Jeep - then would come back on when I restarted and drove a little. Ended up going to dealer and the system stored the code each time. Best bet is to find out what code is getting stored and start from there or just take it to a quality dealer service department - emphasis on quality.
Yea definitely I was going through the TSBs and Recalls and noticed the one you mentioned that's why I started looking around again. Any good insight into a decent OBDII reader that I can get and store in the Jeep until the next time on the trail when this happens?

@rizej - no idea. I’m interested in one myself but haven’t done the research and don’t have any experience. I don’t know if autozone or advance auto parts has one that can read stored codes but you can always check there as they’ll read a CEL code for free - so maybe an option.

Yea the problem with my situation is that I'd have to be on the trail and then immediately drive there before turning my car off to capture the code. If I had one with me I could scan the codes and take a picture of the display and then present that to the service. dept once I can get an appointment

If it comes on right away, you might be able to pop it into 4Lo in the parking lot and drive straight. I don’t think you’ll explode the t-case going 50 feet. Other than that, yeah, you need a code reader.

2016 Unlimited. 22k miles. Approximately one year ago my wife was driving on a clear day and the ABS lights came on and the Jeep began to slow. She pulled off the road, shut the vehicle off & then the light went off upon restart. The same thing happened randomly but without the slowdown, and lights going off after a few miles. This past Sunday the ABS lights came on & stayed on for several hours. No cruise control when this happens. The dealer is willing to check it out but says it is not under warranty. A jeep with 22k miles & Jeep won't stand behind it. Not a good policy. I plan to talk with the dealer again & if he fails to warranty the repair I will go to a reputable shop & Jeep will not be my next purchase.

@Mathusala - did you get this fixed yet? I ask because I have a similar issue. My dealer is replacing the ABS module; however, I’m told the part is on backorder and no ETA (as of yesterday when I dropped it off).
Just got back from the dealer. I purchased my Wrangler new two years ago and have had to take it in three times for this problem. What I am told is the anti-lock sensor gets corroded which causes the vehicle to think it is skidding so it engages the anti-lock brakes. Happens out of nowhere while driving. I've now had three of the four wheel sensors replaced. Sounds like a widespread problem which is also a safety problem. The dealer seemed to think that the new sensors were just as likely to fail as the original ones, so if I want to continue to own this Jeep, I guess I should plan to go to dealer 1-2x per year to have these fixed. And start paying out of pocket for these once the warranty is expired, even though this is clearly a manufacturing defect that exists right now and is not being fixed.

Amazing that Jeep and dealers think this is the right way to handle this. The service manager at the dealer basically told me this was my problem not theirs. Very disappointing.

My ABS light started coming on Friday, but only at highway speeds. It goes off after a restart and won't come on again unless at highway speeds.

Thank you. I disconnected my batteries then reconnected them this morning. Then took a quit test drive and the light did not come back on. If it does again I will definitely contact my dealership.

ive had my jl rubicon for about 3 weeks. A couple days ago I felt the abs turn on for a second(dry normal driving conditions). A few minutes later the abs and traction control light came on and said it needs service. It still drives fine so I’m not sure if there really is an issue with it or maybe with the electronics. I’m pretty disappointed that this is happening already. My biggest concern with a Jeep was reliability and it seems to be biting me in the butt. Has anyone else had this happen?
it happen to me today very diappointed as well all the same conditions as you 3500 miles on it. How did you handle it and is it repaired?
