Hey I’m about to trade in my Nissan rogue for a wrangler in February. Looking at getting a JL unlimited Sahara. I’m Long Island Ny based and wanted to know what’s the best mods to get for it and where is the best place to get it installed out here. Super hyped for this change!

My suggestion:

Do a lot of reading, don't rush, take your time. Look at other people's Rigs/builds, get a really good idea of how you want your Jeep to look. Research pros & cons to each mod. Do some price comparisons so you have an idea how much the mods cost. Doing things right the first time and any wrenching you can do yourself will save huge $$$$.

Welcome to the forum and the Jeep life. :like:

Are you going for looks? What do you plan to do with your Jeep? Can't really advise other than do your research. Tons of info and opinions on the forum. Use the search function on particular items of interest.

My advice is boring. I suggest driving it stock for some time so you get to know the feel of it first. Get to understand any quirks and if anything needs addressed by warranty. Once you start modifying, you’ll want that baseline feeling to know if something is wrong or needs adjusted with the modification, or if its a factory problem. But once you are comfortable with it stock, by all means go for the mods!

I would suggest that you drive the vehicle stock for awhile. Get a feel for what you LOVE about the Jeep and what you wish could be better.

This echo's what @zakaron suggests in that you'll understand your vehicle better before you make changes you may regret or not be happy with!

Something you'll come to learn about your Jeep as well is that you can get over most obstacles BONE STOCK. I had a 2012 JK Sport that I didn't do ANYTHING too for about a year (too poor :D) and that thing could do anything I wanted it too with a little expert placement and driving skills. I did eventually upgrade it (pic included) but that was after much trial and error and buyers regret.

DON'T SKIMP OUT ON LIFTS. I lifted my 2012 with a cheapy coil spacer kit I found on the internet. After wheeling with that for about 6 months I upgraded to a Teraflex 2.5 inch kit and was BLOWN away by the difference in feel.

Don't be afraid to tackle upgrades yourself. The step by step video guides available are amazing on youtube! It will give you a better understanding of your vehicle and sense of accomplishment when it's done.

Also, check out TrailRecon on youtube he's got great content on Jeep upgrades.

When you do go lift kit, more expensive and more parts isn't always better. @wibornz Offroads and road trips more than most people I know or have seen on the forum. He runs a Rancho lift with adjustable shocks, I believe his lift was sub $900 mark? and it's been through the paces and towed a trailer many many miles.

Welcome to the Forum! Glad you're here!

I’ve been living on YouTube the past 2 months and think I’ve almost watched every video created lol
I decided I wanted to a Jeep in 2021, researched, read, Youtube University'd, and asked all the questions to those who had perspective. Just got my 2024 Rubicon X 4xe in October of this year.
Not saying you need to take that much time, just driving home the points made in the replies above. Decide what you want to do with your Jeep (which may evolve) and inform yourself thoroughly. Even if you don't Off Road, Rock Crawl or Overland...your Jeep will be a "lifestyle" addition. Especially if you're already on this forum. Good move btw!

And definitely take heed to step 1 from @Ratbert , checking his thread when I first found the forum months ago got me an amazing deal on my Jeep. So big thanks to you brotha!
