How long until a dealership chalks this up to "Eh, it's a Jeep thing", like they all did with the "steering doesn't work" issue?

I am going in to service at the dealership on Wednesday June 13 to have the cluster unit replaced. Hopefully this will take care of the problem.

Julie from Jeep Cares contacted me initially and a case worker was assigned once i went to the dealership between them and someone from jeep troubleshooter "star" diagnosed that the cluster unit needs to be replaced.
Perhaps the main computer needs replacing.

Let you know after replacement.

"resolved" ? , wishful thinking . First thing the dealer will do is void your warranty because of the 99,999 miles , lol .

Good luck with that ; perhaps if the main computer is replaced , it won't run at all , and they will need to replace the entire Jeep , lol ; but they will say your warranty has run out because of all the miles , lol .

No they wont. A factory software glitch is not going to void a warranty.

Yep , buy a new Jeep for a Lot of money , and then wait and wait to see if a new computer part will fix it ? "Give it time."

Well I had the cluster unit replaced by the dealership. Happy to report that it no longer says 999999. This would not happen every time. But once it did happen, it would happen more frequently. Just so the odometer doesn't start to read 666666. That would definitely be a bad sign.

Anyone else who may have this issue, contact them, in this case it was the cluster unit. Apparently there are 3 computers that reside that keeps track of the odometer and other things. In my case the other 2 computers were reading the correct information, it was only the cluster that had the problem.

All kidding aside..., Thank you Julie and Raymond from "Jeep Cares" you have helped to resolve this problem.

Contact Jeep Cares, they did resolve my issue, they replaced the "Cluster unit" which had one of the three computers in the JL, The other 2 was recording info properly, that one wasn't. After replacement, I have had no issues. Contact them. How many miles on your JL? Mine showed up after 165.

Mine started Monday and has done it twice now. Does it only get worse? I just took my jlur in Friday for the U62 recall.

Mine was the first reported I believe. When I first posted, i got a personal message from Julie from Jeep Cares
From there I was instructed to first go to my dealer and after that I was assigned a case worker who worked with the dealer.
Diagnosis: mine was replacement of the cluster unit, which has one of the 3 computers in the Wrangler JL. So does it get worse.. more frequent, but always after about a half to one mile the actual mileage will come back

Now I had the U62 recall performed, now my phone preferences disappear.

How long did it take to get you instrument cluster replaced? Did you have to leave you Jeep at the dealer for that time?

Once it was diagnosed, it took one day, they proveded a loaner, kept the Wrangler overnight. In that time they would start and stop the jeep to make sure it was fixed. No cost to me, warranty took it all including the loaner.

What you need to do is take it in to service, get them to pay attention to the cluster unit. Jeep Cares was also involved, and they assigned a caseworker. Good luck.
