I own a 2020 JLU with the 5" screen. I have a new 8.4 uconnect with 4 digit security code and bezel, as well as a new center stack hvac control with volume knob. My question is this: when installing both the radio and the hvac controls, will the jeep need to be flashed for the hvac controls to work, or is that something that should update automatically? I have a Tazer JL Mini as well and Zautomotive states it will allow me to change the HVAC control setting to allow the use of dual zone controls on single zone Jeep. Anyone do the upgrade without purchasing the entire upgrade from infotainment? I contacted them about their OBD Genie for programming and they send me links to items not even relatively close to what I am looking for.

Well fortunately you should not have to flash anything, I purchased the same equipment through infotainment.com and it was all plug and play. However just keep in mind if you have SiriusXM, it did not display until the next day.

For some reason it takes about a day for the 8.4 to figure out where it is and become fully functional. I pulled mine to bench test a replacement Pioneer and reinstalled the 8.4 and my climate control was hi or lo with nothing in between for about a day.

I have a 17 Charger, and know very well that the radio takes time to reset and learn the vehicle options. So hearing that about the SiriusXM was expected.

Cajun, when you ordered everything from infotainment, did they included their small programmer to go along with it? Im wondering what that changes, and if that tells the vehicle/radio about the hvac controls. I am currently sifting through a 77 page post on this forum about the install and have seen people complain about where they did they upgrade part by part like myself, and the hvac controls did not work.

I appreciate you both responding.

will the jeep need to be flashed for the hvac controls to work
Yes, the Jeep will need to be flashed for them to work. However, be advised that you will not have true dual zone/mode functionality. The climate must be adjusted using the driver's side controls only. It is recommended to utilize the "SYNC" button so the driver's side temperature and passenger's side temperature are the same.
