Brand new 5.7 crate, found them last month for $5995. The lion's share is NOT the hemi. Throttle body to oil pan, injectors, exhaust manifolds.
No such thing exists. If it's a 5.7 from Dodge Chrysler whatever then it's a hemi. There is an early and a late head design for them but they are both hemi. The late head flows better and makes more power but overall they're the same design.

I meant lion's share of the $30,000 bill, is not the hemi. I can buy a new hemi for $6K, throttle body to oil pan, exhaust manifolds, spark plugs, etc. Complete replacement motor for my Charger. Late model Eagle motor. Take mine out, bolt a new one in, be done in a day, drive it home.

The 5.7 is actually quite a bargain considering, 383HP is what they're claiming on the replacement, right out of the box. A little higher for the truck motor. That's a great deal for a complete motor.

I had new cylinder heads for the 5.7 Eagle motor in my hands in fall of 2008. I developed ports using a flow bench and a dyno, so I'm kind of familiar. I'm also familiar with the earlier heads, and they can be made to work, but the Eagle motor had many improvements.

Those are cool! But I think I'd rather have (cost aside), a naturally aspirated V8 over a force fed Pentastar... ? ?
Cost aside sure, but when you're talking bolting on in a weekend with basic hand tools for $7500 vs dropping $35k, weeks if not months of work and downtime with your rig, and roughly the same power output I think boosting the v6 is a much better value.

Well...
I certainty can't argue that point! ?

Several years ago I supercharged an '09 Miata (2.0L). After several dial-in sessions with a tuner... WOW! (especially in that little car).
The car had only 25K miles on the clock when I did that, and sold her at 40K.
Granted it was 15K trouble free miles with fun on tap, but I've often wondered about what that does to an engines longevity ?
I never beat on it hard, but as GT car with a nice suspension that she also got... What fun!

Even if it shortens the longevity by half, how many 3.6L long blocks will the extra $25k buy(obviously smart money would be a nice forged rotating assembly after you killed the 1st one)?

RUBITRUX has your answers, all of them including putting a supercharger on a 5.7

Hi,

There is a post about putting a 392 in 2 door on this forum, might be some good information.

Depending upon your location/state emissions laws engine needs to be same year or newer.

Also Truck Hemi's in 2500/3500 have rear sump oil pans vs cars have a front sump.

Post your progress as neat to see

Regards,
Jim

Since a lot of you are recommending supercharging instead of throwing a 5.7 in there how drastically will longevity be affected? I was looking for a long-term but fun option which is why I wanted the 5.7 V8. I would actually use the supercharger the way it should be starting October to February since that’s when the weather is colder in my country so me and my friends go into some dunes. Other than that it’s mostly in the street so usage won’t be heavy after February each year. Also would I need to swap anything out for example I have a sahara with Dana 44 rear and the front is a Dana 30 so would I need to change the front axle or regear?

Shouldn't this thread be under Power > Engine Swap? A Sahara has nothing to do with 2-doors.

Unless you are in a foreign market where a 2 door Sahara is an option. OP is from Bahrain.
