A friend sent me this article on the 4xe from “electrified”.

https://www.electrifiedmag.com/feat...owned-19-electrified-jeeps-heres-her-verdict/

Nena Barlow runs a Jeep rental company in Sedona, AZ and recently sold her rental company in Moab. She’s also a multi-time competitor in the Rebelle Rally and an accomplished 4wd instructor. She knows her stuff. Her take on rock crawling with the 4xe is interesting.

Interesting article.

". Example: In select markets, AAA can deliver “charging” to you, just like a 5-gallon can of gas."

AAA stole my idea lol. That was going to be my big business model of driving out charging to stranded electric vehicles. ?
I got a kick out of her saying if you run out of charge it's your "bad planning." Over 100 miles from the nearest town, I'm not sure where on Hole in the Rock you're going to get a recharge, other than maybe a little portable solar array.

The tow company I use for our Jeep Tours operation was telling me he has an entirely new revenue stream on the way, either towing dead electric cars or bringing along a generator to get them enough charge to get to a recharge station. So, don't abandon your dream, there's going to be quite a need for "out of juice" electric vehicles emergency assistance. Invest in diesel powered portable generators before the rest of the rubes catch on!

I know Jeep has to offer these things due to CAFE, but like all electric vehicles they still seem like wine before their time. No argument on the instant torque electric provides, just the execution at this stage seems like a stretch.

We’ll charge you, then we’ll charge you.

Has a nice ring to it.

Yea I BET AAA is on that. I was in Moab and my wheeling buddy was there to run with me. Well I had posted my run and more folks showed up that I allowed on the 7++ trails. The others did not wan to do them. So I taok the 7++ folks and my buddy took the other group on the ez trails.

My buddy was leading and slid off the side of the road and now one had a winch. He slid down about 3 feet off the side of a ROAD...$2000 for a wrecker with a winch came out, hooked on, pulled him up and that was it for $2k less than 15 min work.

Wonder how much AAA is going to chage to hit the trails and fill you tank with electrons???

$2000 will be CHEAP!

EVs have a Range of travel and that Range is based upon good conditions, Goldy Locks weater, Not to hot and Not to cold because they affect battery life, Hot and Cold. Range is not based upon you driving in 4 low all day in the heat of Moab.

Since the 4xe is a hybrid, nobody cares. We carry a jerry can if we need it. Having extra battery for running electric on the trail is fun but in no way mandatory.
Once more full EVs are out on the trail, people will figure it out.

None of them had a strap either? Who's that unprepared out leading trail rides? They deserve that $2k tow bill in my opinion. Aside from a fully disabled vehicle I'm not calling a wrecker but that's just me.

Why would 4Xe ever need this service? Running out of fuel and juice can be done of course but only an idiot would not have fuel delivered

The biggest anti-4xe crowd not only hasn't driven one they don't have the slightest clue how it works. We didn't buy one because we wanted simplicity and the xr package when we bought our 2022, but that torque was hard to pass up.

I take it the 4 XE does not have an electrical component and since that is the case, I know nothing of it and don't care.

This is what I was addressing in my comment see post # 3 by "SadRobot"

You could say that and it's true and for that is the reason why when I list a run I specify the level of the trail I will lead and what level of build is required.

All too often over the years I and sure many have found themselves on a run that their Jeep was not suitable for and or one that just was way way too easy. Like the road to get there was more of a challenge than the trail you found yourself on.

I publish a run and I hold to 10 Jeeps and running 7+ trails. A guy shows up in a new Rubicon. What he did do was put on a set of GY MTRs 35s He is standing there with almost tears in his eyes when told you cannot go. Then thought about it and wondered if I could him thru Pritchett Canyon. So off we go and I can tell you it was not easy, but I was able to get him thru PC! The way I got him thru was by choosing a different line and of course, spot him A LOT!
