4x4 shift issue

Hey,

2021 sport S 2 door grinding/whine
Noise when shifting from 4h (in snow)
To 2H. It happened a couple times this week. Also it’s -38c in Alberta as well. Any thoughts?

Sounds like a whine but dash lights show in 2H mode.

There's a lot going on when you go into and out of 4H at speed. Your front inner passenger axle shaft actually changes directions due to the FAD disconnecting, and the driveshaft starting/stopping spinning. It may actually take a little time for your FAD to disconnect the coupler, even when the transfer case is no longer engaged. Does it return to normal after a short period?

Yes about 30 seconds after the noise

As noted a lot going on. The cold may play a role as well. Mines pretty smooth on the 4H to 2H shift at moderate speed.

mine is a little stiff

its a bit “stiff” but very smooth-much like my old TJ in feel.
