Hey guys, I'm new to Jeeps but not offroading. I've climbed many a curb in my day. However, my girlfriend wants me to take her on a gravel road in the mountains. How do I put it in 4wd? I've heard I need to be driving about 30mph to do this properly but can't seem to get it to work. Thanks for the help.

The shift to 4x4 is far stiffer than the automatic transmission shift. Just pull it back firmly until the red light shows on the dash readout. You’ll only need 4 Hi for trails, if you need it at all.

You can do the shift while you’re stopped or at regular trail driving speeds.

I'm concerned I may get dust on my Jeep though. Do you think it will come off? I normally use Mequire's wax about once a week so I'm a little nervous. Thanks!

If you know someone that can sandblast it should remove the dust, if not, find the nearest car wash.

I guess the dust can look somewhat cool.

Just make sure you don’t go if it rains, the mud will completely cover your paint and could be a major cause for concern.
