Hi everyone. New here. Living in Los Angeles and the crappy gas prices I'm curious what would be better gas mileage and maintenance. Anything good or bad about the 4cy? All I've ever heard was get the 6. Looking for a Rubicon 2 or 4 door and driving to downtown everyday 30 miles a day.

At least this gets the prize for the most efficient use of letters for this exhaustedly debated question.

Too many parts and more get up vs plain, boring, reliable-ish. The choice is yours. If I didn’t have a diesel I would have been looking for a 2.0

I have the 2.0 on stock tires and get 16.7 mpg. I don't actually think there is significant difference between the V6 and 2.0 - probably more difference in tires. Don't buy a Jeep and expect decent fuel mileage. Buy a commuter and weekend car if that is important to you. We have a $4500 VW station wagon that gets 50 mpg commuting and 43 mpg if you push it along fast on a long trip.

2.0 owner. Getting 20 mpg in winter with winter blend gas. Summer usually around 23-24 depending on the foot! Have gotten better in the mountains.

Forst of you want good gas mileage don't get a Jeep.

I have a 2Dr Rubicon when it was stock I would get 23-24 MPG on longer trips (stay under 70).

Now with a 3.5" lift and 37s I can still get 19+ on highway trips with stock 4.10s.

However puttering around town or in stop and go traffic the numbers were more like 20 stock and now 16 lifted.

Get a bicycle and use mass transit.

If you are trying to decide which engine you want because of fuel prices, you are buying the wrong vehicle.
