For what it is worth, I definitely think it was worth the costs to do a re-gear. Driving around town is more enjoyable; a lot more acceleration when needed and as I add heavier bumpers, a winch, tire carrier, and possibly a roof rack - it will only help. Highway cruising is smoother since the Jeep is not constantly hunting for gears. If you’re wheeling very hard, consider a 4.88 so you’re not going to such a small pinion but I know I’m just sticking to the mall (and maybe a dirt/gravel road :giggle: ).
Ha, thanks! We don't wheel hard here. Majority of trails around WV are nothing but mud.
Jeep is mainly used for running around, and lighter wheeling, but we do wheel often in the summer and fall.
BAsically looking for better off line acceleration in town. What kind of mpg are you getting?
My JLUR, has steel front bumper, winch, aftermarket rear bumper, but spare tire delete. So not an overly heavy rig.

My “butt dyno”, running 37s with our daily driver at 6,700’ above sea level JLR, says don’t waste your money unless you’re going to run 40s.

It’s pretty mixed driving for me with a shade closer to highway driving and I usually sit just over 15 MPG. It’ll go below if I’m a little heavy on the acceleration but closer to 16 MPG if I’m on secondary highways going 60 to 65 MPH (on the primary highways or interstates, I usually go 75 to 80 MPH).

Set-up wise, I’ve only got a front steel bumper and winch so far. Eventually, I’ll add the matching rear and a tire carrier at least. Floating the idea of running a Rhino Rack as well as switching out the Moab rails I picked up to run Ace Sliders with the stock Rubi rails.

In addition to VA or even better... NC ;)!
Well from my current work location, Charleston WV, you aren't that far and I am always up for some wheeling I would just need to know so that I can take my gear with me when I come down for work. Love to wheel....
