Yep automatic I love it. That's what sold me when I test drove a automatic with a lift kit and 37s. Could not believe how fast it still was with 37's
This thread was revolving around the 6 speed which is horrible when you add larger tires. Our other JL with 37s is an automatic and it compensates much better and averages 17-19 mpg. I broke the news it’ll be getting regeared soon, hopefully it doesn’t negatively affect the mpg to much

I had lightweight 315 ko2's for a year and the jeep drove and crawled pretty well with 4.10s with 6 speed. What do you not like about the way it drives now?
It's taken a hit mostly when driving in the mountains. The drive up to Eisenhower Tunnel is mostly in 4th.

So far, the wheeling has been fine. There have been a few times that a bit deeper gearing would have helped me save the clutch though. The intent is to go to chromoly shafts and 4.88's next year. I might need new tires by then.

That makes sense...I assume you're thinking chromoly shafts and 4.88 for 37s next year?:handsinair:

Any other input on 4.88 verse the 5.13???? I could really use some insight from those that have already re-geared.

I think the OP had a manual but I'm running a JLUR auto with the 3.6L, 2" lift, and 37's. It was like that when I bought it and my prior JK was a Sahara with 3.21 gears, so I have no comparison to a stock JLUR on 4.10.

A couple of shops have said that the 5.13 pairs really well with the 3.6 and the 8 speed. However, I don't want to overshoot and end up too far the other direction. The 4.88 pairs best to the original gears and "factory feel". I don't know what that was like.

Any input would be appreciated.

It is a daily driver. We use it for road trips. I have a small travel trailer we'll be pulling soon. Unlike some, MPGs are somewhat of a concern but I'm not looking for 20's. I'd be happy if I could maintain 17-18 mpg. I do wheel, but not a ton because of where we live. What wheel I did on the 4.10's wasn't bad at all.

Thanks all!
