After ordering my 392 with the extreme recon package last week I found out that the 392’s transfer case is not 4:1 geared. Does anyone know if you can re-gear that transfer case to make it a 4:1 or use my current 21’ JLUR’s 4:1 transfer case and swap it out with the existing 392 transfer case?

Atlas , might have a transfer case that works , and with 4 to 1 or greater, and two wheel drive .You will need Dana 60 diffs and better drive shafts .

What drive shafts would you recommend?

My dealership had one on order already and went in and modified the order to my specs. I think the only thing changed was the top and maybe 1 other thing though but since it hadn’t been assigned a VIN yet or began being built I was able to have that order modified to what I wanted on it but when it was originally ordered it was done so with the Extreme Recon package.

Keep researching. You don’t want or need a 4.0 case. Advance Adapters also agrees and will sell you their case in 3.0 to 1 for the 392. Many times I’m riding my brakes while crawling to hold back the torque and gearing of my stock case with 37”s and 4.88 axle gears. And yes, I rock crawl it.

It was great and fun. The road out is a total kidney killer (and I have King remote resi's and hydro bumps), so much so that next time I'll consider doing the trail backwards to get out.

I did pull cable twice, but I think I "could" have done without it. But it was my wife's birthday and she was already pissed that I spent the day on the trail, AND she was super pissed that it was one of the hardest trails in Moab. The last thing I needed that day was to wreck my 392 Jeep that I had only had for just under 2 months... So I'm not ashamed to have used the winch. My 5 other friends also used their's in the same spots, one of them on 40"s.

Per RR4w
Pritchett Canyon is becoming more difficult every year, and is now to the point where the average, well equiped trail rig may have great difficulty in completing the trail. Vehicles with large amounts of lift will find the trail especially harrowing, as the many off camber spots will induce body roll and severly test a driver's nerve.

That makes it sound like 37's and a winch is better than taller tires. Winching is fine but my wife gets out when the roll is over 25%.

To answer your question, you could get a 4xe Rubicon case and a regular Rubicon case and merge them together to get a ”factory” 4:1 transfer case.

And if you want the Atlas, Advance does not have the proper adapter in existence yet - Despite shipping them out to myself and other 392 owners that ordered them! I’ve also learned that we will need a new DTCM from a regular Rubicon to keep the computer happy and not constantly looking for a transfer case clutch motor. The regular DTCM will be needed for any transfer case that isn’t AWD.
