Swapping a Sport transfer case with a Rubicon transfer case

Can you swap a Rubicon transfer case in place of a Sport transfer case and what are the major headaches?

I did this a few years ago. Not super detailed step by step but could help you understand what to expect. Note that this is for DIY transmission. Auto transmission might be slight different but I cant imagine it would be that much different.

My one big take away from doing it was to lower your transmission as much as possible, watching for contact from the rear of the motor to the front of the firewall. Any extra bit of room you get helps with the 3 bolts on top, even an extra half an inch drop from the tail of the transmission is better than nothing.

Another comment, get your jeep as high up on jacks as you can to get room to sit up under there (or use a 2 post lift). I felt like a pretzel with my head torqued over in the tunnel trying to reach over and around the t-case. I did it by myself with 2 jacks, one holding up the transmission and one to raise the t-case and get it close enough to slide on the splines. Expect some expletives....

I was actually thinking about that, too, after fact. Oh well, you learn as you go.
