I apologize if this has already been answered, but ive been searching for a while and havent found an answer. Will the standard rubicon transfer case bolt onto the 8hp75 of the 392?

You're talking swapping to the part time 1622 case from the full time 3022? I think the bigger issue is going to be programming to delete the case control and feedback.

I think they got that part figured out with the atlas swap. I believe it requires a new control unit and tazer programming. I'm just wondering if it will even bolt up. I know the amw hemi swaps use the 1622 so there must be a way. I'm ordering a 392 but I really don't want the 3022 but I also don't want the noise and hassle of the atlas.

Those hemi swaps don’t usually upgrade the trans. Most of the ones I’ve seen, even the bigger names, just slap them into the existing drivetrain. Guessing they just use an adapter plate on the trans.

That’ll be the day when I see a v8 swapped jeep with the entire drivetrain upgraded to handle the extra power. Even jeep left the d44’s in and force you drive around in awd.

the AMW swap replaces the transmission with an 8hp75. Not sure if they have to use an adapter to use the 1622 tcase

Seems like the JLURD uses the 8hp75 just like the 392, so that one might be a direct swap? Somebody else out there has to have attempted or completed this swap already. Especially with how many 392s have tcase problems...

Well indeed they do, that’s surprising

Just contact them, they might help you

Let us know what you find out. I'm betting that it would be a direct bolt in but we'll see. I like the Atlas and had one in a previous Jeep but don't like their long adapter for the 392 and we don't need the gear reduction so the value proposition is de minimis anyway.

So after some research it looks like AMW uses an adapter to use the standard rubicon transfer case on the 8hp75, however the Diesels use the same 8hp75 transmission as the 392 and have a different part number transfer case from the gas models. I'm betting that one will bolt straight on. It's only about $2500 brand new, so if the tcase goes on my 392 ill probly be the guinea pig and order one.
