I'm considering 38s for my next tire. Currently on 37 Mickey Thompson BB AT. What's available now?

Nitto makes a 38x11.50R-17 Ridge Grappler, but since it is a niche size they wanted $700 a tire at our local Les Schwab tire store. A 38x13.50 Trail Grappler was $450 a tire, so I passed on the Ridge Grappler 38s. BFG makes a 39, which is a 38 by any other companies measurement, but they are even more expensive. You can get a Patagonia MT2 in a 38, but I passed on that one as well.

I'm interested to see what you come up with as well.

I’ve considered the Patagonia MT02s multiple times as the price is right at 320 per tire but I drive too many miles per year to be buying tires every 18 months. They do make an XT all terrain tire in a 38 for about 250 bucks a pop but they’re kind of boring looking so I don’t know that I’d be a fan of that.

I know a lot of people used to complain about the Patagonia Milestars back when they were so popular around 6 years ago--but I found them to be VERY sticky--just don't try to get highway miles out of them. They are a soft tire. They will wear quick. I think I got 30k out of mine and they were humming real loud after 20k.

I have consider getting a set dedicated for offroading in 38's.

I'm interested. Where in Utah? Is the set 4 tires or 5?

When I started looking for 38s I quickly discovered that none were 3 peak rated. I'm thinking that's not a concern for you though.
Yea thats my concern with the Wildpeak R/Ts that @mgroeger recommended.

Falken has both RT and MT in 38x13.50R17. Nitto has MT in 38x13.50 and RT in 38x12.50. BFG has 39x13.50 but they are technically 38s. Milestar has some but I dont consider milestar a real tire company.
