Jeep was trailered behind my RV to Moab on Monday. We ran the shorter version of Fins and Things in the late afternoon. Zero problems on the trail as it is super easy. Got back to the campground and I parked the Jeep. Five minutes later we went out to go to dinner. Jeep would not start, gives a one crank try and that is it. Put it on a charger all night thinking it was the battery. Spent the next day trying everything! Checked every fuse, relay, and wire. Then even swapped the main battery out with another JL owner to try that, nothing. Inside lights work, nothing dims when I try to start it, just continues to try one crank and that is it.

Unmarried Tazor, and that made zero difference. Tried jumping it with one Jeep, then two Jeeps at a time, then charger box, everything! Still nothing but one crank. Tried jumping it with battery positive as well as the points under the fuse box lead. Again nothing...

I have a trailer to get it home, but here for the entire week so this really sucks! Will probably rent a SXS or something. Anyone have any suggestions? Thinking it is something with 48V battery.

I had that happen to my first JLU, a 2018 2.0T eTorque, three years after I bought it. Had to have the dealership send a tow truck. It was the 48v battery. They replaced it, but rather than drive it back home, I traded it in for my current ‘21 JLUR.

My wife’s ‘20 JLU Sahara is a 3.6 etorque, but no issues with it yet. Good luck!

Jeep is a 2021 3.6 with eTorque. I again ran Optima charger that has special settings for AGM and reads the battery to double check right type of charging. Absolutely no change.

I took off the Metalcloak skid. All plugs and lines are fine.

It just sucks as I took the Jeep to the dealer last month as it was throwing a couple of codes and they said they could not replicate once they cleared them. The engine was already replaced at just 22,000 miles! That happened just as we hit Lake Tahoe for the Rubicon trail and ruined that trip. Just 10,000 miles later at this comes up, ruining another trip to Moab. Now I need to rent something to go out on the trails as the nearest dealer told me they would not look at it until next week so no help there. At least I have the extended warranty due to the engine replacement. If I did not have so much money dumped into this I would sell it. @JeepCares

Sounds like the starter to me.
It depends on what he means by one crank.
“click”, “CLUNK”
or
“15 seconds of cranking the engine over with no success of starting followed by failure to repeat the process”

I get this all the time where people say one thing and mean another entirely. Symptoms do sound like a starter that just crapped out, if we are reading it right.

OP, do you have a multimeter?

I clicks and then tries to crank once. Not even a full crank and then it will try one more time and same just a grunt from the starter. Again ran charger two nights and all day. Even swapped in another battery for the main battery that came out of a newly new JL and no different outcome.

I hate reading this story… hope you get it resolved. I am half way to Moab as we speak, towing my 3.6 eTorque behind our RV for almost a week’s worth of wheeling. Looking for wood to knock on. Not so easy to find real wood around these days!

Good luck and keep us posted on culprit.
