If the 37" KO2s on factory wheels with +44 don't rub, then they shouldn't rub on 8.5" width with +25 to +33 according to the rule of reducing offset by 1/2" or 13mm for every inch of added wheel width for the same tire. I'm not convinced the 12.5" width on the 37 is the same as the 12.5 width on the 35.

The wheels I’m looking at are 8.5x17 with + 25 offset compared to the stock 8 inches wide and +12 offset.

The math, if correct, says this will bring the inside of the wheel 19.35mm or 0.74in closer to the Jeep and the outside of the wheel retracted under the fender by 6.65mm or 0.26in compared to stock.

Your math checks FWIW.

I will say with Rubicon axles and 37s on the factory XR wheels with a 3.5 inch lift and any real articulation offroad I was having a lot of rubbing on the inner fenders. Just as one data point,

Which means I probably should look at +12 in case I ever go away from the KO2s...

They will work just fine with xr package xr adds the fender extension is all but axle is the same width.

right. I’m not concerned with the fender extension as these new wheels will actually pull the tire inwards just a bit. I’m more concerned if that shit inwards will cause clearance issues.

And then others, like one even in this thread, say they get heavy rubbing with 37’s on factory wheels with a 44 offset. Maybe it depends on the tire brand?

What are the new wheels you're looking at?
I'm still on factory Rubicon wheels with KO2 37s, which DT installed, but I'm pretty sure the next set of tires will require 8.5" width. I like the factory backspacing and don't want extra poke, so I would be looking for +25.

I actually like the placement of the factory offset of +12. Pretty much flush with the fenders. These would bring them in slightly.
