If you were to buy a new Willys Wrangler, and your choices were XR or Non XR, and price is not an issue, which would you choose?

for me the 4.56 gears and 35's and wheels that will accept 37's along with the tailgate hinge would be worth 4K

For gods sake you know you want the XR. Just go buy it Monday and report back with pictures. 😁 Buy once cry once.
I was actually going back in forth between a base rubicon and a Willys XR. Everyone’s responses in the previous thread made me realize that the Willys would be perfect for me. I actually really don’t like the red on the rubicon and also don’t care for the wheels. The Willys XR looks like a monster from the factory and the black and orange look great together imo. I also get the rear locker to use whenever I need it, and 4.56 gears. The look on 35s is no comparison to a base rubi or base willys. I believe I’m going to go with the Willys XR. I will definitely update with pictures when I pick it up. Thanks for the input! Buy once cry once!

I know I second guessed myself to death on my purchase. The Willy’s XR is capable and so well sorted out. I was, and still am thrilled with it. 3rd wrangler. 5th Jeep. It’s by far the best.

Thank you for your response! Second guessing is an understatement! I can’t make up my mind. I just don’t want to feel buyers remorse when I see a rubicon. I know the Willys is the best purchase for me and I love the look so much more, but it’s a very tough decision. I also won’t get 35s on a base rubicon in my price range, so there’s also that.

Willys XR. I just bought one a couple weeks ago. It is the best value for the money and extremely capable. I wanted one since it came out.

Willys is a great trim overall since they got rid of that terrible clutch based LSD and put a selectable locker.

The fact you can get the XR package on it makes it the best value for the money.

Minus the 4:1 transfer case and the front locker, you have a wonderful package with the XR.
I added Apex AutoLynx sway bar discos for a very affordable and extremely easy was to disconnect the sways up front.

At this point, I don't know if I'll add a front locker, and I don't know if the transfer case will benefit us for what we do with our rig.

The Willys XR VS the standard Rubi actually had some advantages. I believe the knuckles are better, and the 4.56 gears are standard. I don't think you can ever go wrong with the Rubes, but between the regular Willys VS the base. XR was our choice with zero regrets.

I have the base JL Willys. I would like an XR, but when I got mine there was a delay in building XRs. Looking at them now I would like the XR better if the wheels were all black like the non XR Willys but still bead lock capable.

Here’s another vote for the Willys XR. We really love ours.

Hi,

I personally wanted a stick, so got a Rubicon and 4.88's, added XR flares and added 35's. I don't go off road a lot as have a few beater 4x4 trucks for that.

If you go base add cost to regear also if you get a xr you can get 4.88's if you plan on larger tires down the road

Regards,
Jim

The shocks came with the Mopar lift. We had it added. We have a friend in the leasing business that was able to get us a great deal on the lift.
Other than that and my Apex AutoLynx, our rigs are very similar.
