They certainly had a meteoric rise, but they seem to be rocketing down right now. I know this isn't a local phenomenon, they're doing nationwide incentives. Prices at my local dealership are falling a grand or two a week. Base Rubicons and Mojaves are getting close to sub-50k pricing. Leather/LED Rubicons and Mojaves are mid 50s. One of the salesmen reached out to me and just for laughs I threw out 40k trade in for my 23 Willys Sport and 45k for a Rubicon and (this may have been to just get me in the door) he seemed willing to deal.

I gotta say it's tempting should the prices keep falling. If I can get LEDs and an otherwise base Rubicon at that price point, I'd be pretty well sold. It would be cheaper than outfitting my Willys Sport with similar features. What do y'all think?

I very nearly bought a Gladiator instead of a Wrangler. However, I'd driven a truck since 2007. Had a bed cover on it ~95% of the time and I only towed something like, twice.

The entire back half of the vehicle was completely wasted dead weight. On the other hand, I've used the back portion of my Jeep a number of times already. It's much more useful, IMO.

The problem with the Gladiator is that for $50K, it can't compete with its legit truck brethren like the Tacoma or the Colorado. It's not a great truck for the money, but it's also not as great offroad as a Wrangler due to the longer wheelbase. It's this weird thing in the middle.

Yes, it's probably absolutely perfect for some groups - the overland scene, in particular. But that's a small niche, and for everyone else, there are better vehicles.

Funny enough I've been having the same thought with upgrading my 2dr 2022 Willys Sport to a Gladiator Mojave or Rubicon. I've been looking at regearing and adding Trutracs or lockers, and for the price of doing so I wouldn't be that far off from just selling and upgrading to a new Gladiator. I love the short wheelbase of my 2dr, but the added convenience of having a truck bed would sure be nice. Oh, and I'd prefer a 6mt, which at the moment seems to be a roll of the dice. My clutch is doing just fine (knock on wood) so why risk purchasing a new manual that could potentially have issues? I'm going to finish paying mine off in the next year and see where Gladiator prices are then before making a decision.

They are not selling as well probably down 25 to 30% in sales numbers from 2021. Was down 14% in 2022. Some big incentives on 2023 right now, but to me with incentives it brings them back down to reality of where MSRP should be.

But I could get a Colorado for 40K with far more exciting engine.

What are they putting in the colorados these days that is worth the change from the 3.6?

The same engine they use in the 1500 2.7t, still haven't driven one with the Colorado.

  • 310 hp [231 kW] @ 5600 rpm
  • 430 lb-ft of torque [583 Nm] @ 3000 rpm (ZR2)
  • 391 lb-ft of torque [530 Nm] @ 2000 rpm (WT/LT/Trail Boss/Z71)
  • Paired with a 8-speed automatic transmission

One of them new fangled turbo fours. 2.7L 310 hp, 390 lb-ft of torque. 430 lb-ft with a $395 dealer tune.

That’s practically the same as the 3.6.

3.6 doesn't have that low RPM torque. Nothing in the gladiator would justify 58k either for a Willys

Eh, just looking at the cost to regear/axle swap, lockers, etc that stuff adds up quick. I think it's worth noting I have a Willys Sport as well. So, manual windows and locks, which I don't mind, but I have to check the kid's windows every time they get out.

If for some awful reason I lost my ā€˜22 diesel JL I’d try and grab a diesel JT before they too are gone. Then I’d bob the bed and put a Decked setup in it. My shop has a bobbed JT with a Hemi swap and that thing is bad ass.

Some of them look really practical and pretty sexy with the right shell. But some of those setups look damned expensive also.

Prices are down currently. I just bought my wife a '23 Gladiator Mojave. It came with a Mopar 2" lift and 35" Nitto Trail Grappler tires on Black Rhino wheels. Even with the $4100 worth of lift and 35" tires/wheels it was still thousands less than MSRP (mid $50s).
The Mojave's ride really nice by the way. They seem to really have the suspension dialed in on that model. It rides even better than my 392 with Fox 2.5 DSC AccuTune shocks
