I am still not convinced it is only galvanic corrosion, if at all. I think its shitty prep and paint and there is water ingress. That's why it happens at the hood, tailgate and door bottoms. At the hinge, technically steel touches steel and aluminum touches aluminum (painted as well), no?
Shitty prep and paint can result in galvanic corrosion too.

New hinges aren't a complete fix for it when we have clear evidence of it occuring in places without hinges.

I fully agree. I just think it is the water ingress corroding the alumimiun, which does look like galvanic corrosion, for sure. (and maybe even called that? ) I got my hood, hinges and doors done late last year at the end of my warranty for them. I got them to put my Linex'd hinges back on as well. As this point, she will be a full trail rig soon and I will be using rattle cant to sort it out. lol....

I don’t understand why my ‘21 JLUR still has no visible corrosion anywhere - yet, but we had to have my wife’s ‘20 repainted, the hood and all four doors.

Inconsistencies like that might imply humans in the prep process.

I thought I had gotten lucky but I got to start watching the cancer take over in 24 (I am in a 21). Sigh.
@Ratbert Guys, right after I wrote that post I got paranoid and went outside to inspect my hinges. Guess what I found - corrosion around one of the hood hinges.🤣 Shortly I am headed to the dealership for an inspection to get the process started. Hopefully my door hinges will also show signs before 20 July….

Turns out there is also corrosion on one driver door hinge, along the bottom of the same door, and also along the edge of the hood.

Strangely, I was given the choice of either having the hood repainted, or completely replaced. I went with replacement, of course.

I'm almost afraid to closely inspect mine. That'll wait until I get about a year from the deadline.

Ignorance is bliss, right?

I hear ya, brother. Heck, the guy at the body shop who did the inspection found corrosion that I couldn’t see at all, in spite of him laying his finger on it to show me. The same thing happened when I took my wife’s in a year ago; it was the same guy who did that inspection, too. He’s a good man who knows his stuff.
