Somewhere here is a poll on blown head gaskets, I think about 30% responded with blown head gaskets. That's 1/33.
At 50-70K? I never have great confident with Jeep reliability but 30% of the 3.6s have blown gasket at 50-70k miles? I find that hard to believe. And 30% and 1/33 are two different things. 30% is 30%. 1/33 is like 3%.

The thinking is the gaskets themselves aren't the problem but they are inadequately torqued from the factory. The problem doesn't repeat once addressed.

Keep in mind the poll is only people on here who caught the thread. Doesn’t count all the ones who are not on here and did not partake in the poll. Lots of head gasket threads on here.

Yep yep they don't make anything like they used to.
I would bet that if you travelled back in time to whatever timeframe is in your head, that they'd be saying "they don't make anything like they used to."

Earlier today I happened to have watched a SFJ4x4 Podcast that talked about avoiding the transition years, namely the seven's (87 YJ, 97 TJ, 2007 JK) and the 2018 JL/JT.

My solution: Toyota
😂

Good luck. Engine failures by the hundreds of thousands currently, transmissions failing in the Tacomas, electrical issues, interiors that look like a Rubbermaid factory, etc. etc.

Every time somebody whips out the Toyota reliability card it makes me chuckle. I saw the 1980s Toyotas that were rusted before they even unloaded them from the ships. I saw the 1990s Toyotas that had frames that folded like lawn chairs until Toyota started buying them all back. I saw the 2000s Toyotas with head gasket failures, plastic beds cracking, diffs grenading, etc. The 2010s Toyotas that ate emissions parts like candy, and now the 2020s Toyotas with driveline failures all over the Web.

I really do hate that you are having problems with your Jeep. But there are literally millions of 3.6L engines in vehicles all over America right now that are running like a top. In fact, this engine has been on Ward's Best Engines list multiple times. It's fantastic, and the ZF 8 speed it's hooked up to is world class also.

Going to Toyota will be a downgrade.

Toyotas aren’t without issues. Both post and pre 2024 drivetrain refresh. While they are more than likely NOT to have an issue, people hold them in this regard that is just unreasonable.

Yes jeep/stellantis has their issues. And between the 3.6 and the 2.0t I chose the 2.0t specifically due to experiences like yours. I’m also not unreasonable and understand mass produced items can fail too. It just is what it and cost of doing business. I mean hell, I traded in a perfectly reliable 23 civic sport for my JL Rubicon because I’m partially dumb but wanted something fun again.

Not sure how much research you have done but not a single automaker at the moment builds a vehicle worth a damn. Honda can’t build an engine without headgasket issues, Toyota and GM made grenades for engines, ford still hasn’t fixed the cam phaser issues on the 3.5 and 5.0 and still has issues with the 10 speed, Subaru (all I gotta say), I can go on. I work in auto salvage, I see everyday what drivetrain leaves on sold tickets every single day. Nobody can build shit lol.

I agree. I learned that I can't afford to drive without a warranty anymore.

I wasnt asking you to repeat yourself. Shit happens, even with Toyota or Honda.

I just do not agree with the statement that says 50-70k with a blown headgasket is "extremely common".
it's extremely common on the 3.6l PUG engine. this is from first hand experience watching these come in half a dozen per week. i personally believe it's under torqued heads at the plant
