Coolant leaks from reservoir and at hose connector are common. Infiltrated cylinders and cracked block at 55,000 miles. New engine on my dime. At 1000 miles on new engine me and my 88 yr old father were stranded on freeway with jeep overheating. Possibly oil cooler clip breaking. Red Temp light came on then the A. Then smoke. I thought it was on fire. Terrifying! Temp gage showed nothing wrong prior. Towed to dealer again. Mind you I was without my jeep for 6 weeks already. Jeep Cares already notified. Will take up the chain of command.

A wrangler may not be the right vehicle for you.
As a disabled senior person on a fixed income with an 88 yr old father, ive been robbed by Stellantis. My wrangler was the first ever new vehicle I purchased at the age of 58 after suffering a violent assault at work. Serviced religiously. Never taken offroad. Shes a beauty and a beast. The brand is cheap, dangerous, and costly with zero accountability. I see a much more reliable brand in my future. And, an attorney.

I second the statement from Bob on if the jeep is the best vehicle for you, in all seriousness. In regards to your statement: no, it is not great to have a breakdown. However, these modern jeeps can have quite a few issues at few miles that you need to be prepared for as a part of owning one of these vehicles. If you do not want to live with that very real uncertainty, a JL may not be best for your needs. Best of luck to your dealer adventure.

you sure it needed a block? blown headgaskets at 50-70k miles are extremely common and you typically just replace the heads

Describe "serviced religiously". Are we talking 10,000 miles between changes? Using 0W20 water oil in an extremely hot southwestern environment? Because technically that would be by the book......but the book gives horrible advice.

Anyway, that ship has sailed at this point. Sorry to hear about your troubles. For the record a lot of us have had MANY Jeeps that have all been extremely reliable. I myself have owned a laundry list of Jeeps of all models, including several Wranglers and Gladiators and I have never had one single major issue with any of them.

I would suggest trying a different dealership. They are NOT all equal.

Engine trouble 1k miles after a new engine was replaced at the owner's expense, who here would not be pissed off and disappointed? Freebird805 should be out enjoying his Wrangler as he has been for several years.

Serviced 2x per year. I live in the central coast of cali. It is not extremely hot. Its paradise. Heads are aluminum, which warps and can crack the block. Duh

Jeep is not known for reliability but can you elaborate this a little bit more? 50-70K the engine is barely broken in for some more reliable cars.

If fuid such as coolant gets in cylinders it warps the head which is aluminum and can crack the block. They would not just replace the head because a new one would not fit the damaged block. No sign of any coolant leak or overheating. Had it serviced 2 days prior.

Yes 55k miles first engine needing replacing. I've has the jeep 7-1/2 yrs. Purchased new. Out of warranty. Paid for new engine.
Second engine with jeep overheating at 1000 miles is at dealer. Service not required for 5000 miles. Not verified yet but suspected engine damage from a bad oil cooler clip??? That's all I got as of now.

My solution: Toyota

I wasnt asking you to repeat yourself. Shit happens, even with Toyota or Honda.

I just do not agree with the statement that says 50-70k with a blown headgasket is "extremely common".

Careful, those new Toyotas are not exactly bulletproof either now.
