That is crazy. The JK soft top had plastic tabs over the doors that would prevent or greatly reduce this issue. While it might take an extra minute to put down/up the top it would be well worth it.

I assume you will be filling a report with Jeep?

I get my new top tomorrow.....

Service manager got back to me today, he has a field engineer wanting to check it out. They will be here the 26th.

I also realized today why they didn't attach the windows to the top... It's due to how the sunrider folds. If the top were connected to the windows it couldn't fold back all the way.

So Jeep guy looked at it and tried to say some molle pouches were blocking airflow out the rear of the Jeep. I explained that was impossible since I installed those this weekend. He said it was probably the material inside the part that pops off then, because when he turns the AC on the top rises a half inch or inch, I forget what he said.

I asked how is it happening in the winter since 1. I'm not using AC and 2. The Jeep wasn't even on. He explained that even a side wind will push up the top if there isn't anywhere for the inside air to go... I'm not an expert but this one seems... Off. They want me to drive without that rear part in and see how it does. Now I have to wait for rain or snow.

I just don't understand the logic of you cut the material then oh the material was to strong. Very frustrating.

I do understand... WE... are the research monkeys.
They act as if WE are problem not their product!
Itā€™s a terrible design and theyā€™re going to have to do something about it which Iā€™m sure they will when the redesign the Wrangler again down the road.
Problem is our 2018-2019 and most likely 2020s with this crappy top wonā€™t be worth anything because nobody will want to buy them used, WAY to many problems with the JL.

I don't it will effect value, but it is irritating. I was upset they tried to blame me right off the bat. I mean, every soft top I've had has puffed up when the AC is on. The thing though is that those tops we're connected to the side windows.

I'm they designed the top for the ease of taking it down they didn't take it into account. 90 percent of the time it works great, just in high wind I'll get dust, rain, and snow in. The snow is much more visible. The rain is hard because by the time I get off work it's in the carpet already. Dust is hard to tell if I also have windows down.

I'm confident they will get it fixed for em, even if I end up with an aftermarket top. They are ordering me a fox stabilizer due to the wobble issue. Just really sucks until it's fixed.

This top is super easy to remove, but--

When you install it--there are many "SEAL" spots that have to very carefully assembled--

My top doesn't have any leaks/open joints and is relatively quiet !

There's nothing "CARELESS" about the installation-

Update! Sadly not the good kind.

So the top still doesn't seal correctly. In the high winds I don't see the top going up anymore, but I do still feel the breeze in the cab. I haven't had the tailgate panel in since the 26th so sadly I don't think this is what the issue is.

I'm waiting for my service manager to get back to me, I've emailed him with the same update and waiting to hear back. I'm also waiting on that Fox stabilizer under warranty.

So service manager called me, the engineer thinks it's still got something to do with the tension wires. They are pretty sure they are the issue, but don't know what the correct numbers are to fix the issue.

He said due to this there really isn't anything they can do until the engineers figure it out. So he cracked me a deal on a hard top for winter months.

On the good side, he said they had a new fix for the stabilizer. They have some tweaks to the suspension, including a new stabilizer. Problem is he can only order 1 every 6 weeks... And he has 7 to order...

Update on mine....they replaced the tension wire and tightened it. It did seem to help the wind seal BUT it was like tightening a drum too much. Now the soft top metal braces make a couple of different rattling noises constantly. Also the wire tightening did not fix one of my side windows which is distorted and the back window flaps still do not stay in. My dealer agrees with me they should replace the top. They did a 'star' report and I am waiting to hear back. But right now the rattles are very loud and annoying.

This is how mine looks after some time with the new tension. It just doesn't sit right or something.

Mine looks similar. Also one of the side windows is pretty distorted and the new tension made it worse also.

My side windows look fine but the rear window clips on the bottom are a beast to undo

Well my hardtop came in. Turned it in on Friday for what I was told should be a day job. They now have it until Tuesday, gotta love holiday weekends. Tech was onbstep 20 of 60 or something for the hard top wiring. Just bummed as I had plans this weekend.

I did run into another issue with the soft top though, I had the Sunrider open and my rear window top channel managed to get loose. Couldn't get it out of the channel without some force and now the channel is scratched up a bit.

They also are doing my front end fix for the wobble.
