2 door or 4 door?

Always 2 door but can see myself getting a 4 door in the future when we retire and plan to long range overland.

The only true Jeep is a two-door. But I suppose a four door is more practical for families.

I’ve owned 4 Landcruisers, one of which was a 2-door FJ40, then switched over to Jeeps… YJ, TJ, and now a 2-door JL.
I chose the 2-door despite multiple “whys?” From friends.
My reasoning:
1. I like vehicles that are different
2. Manueverability
3. I hate that some folks bring WAY too much stuff out in the trail. I force myself to pack light and show the world that Overlanding need not be Overloading.

I’ve had six two-doors and two four doors since 1977. I had both for the first two years I had the JL, then I sold my TJ to pay for parts for the JL. One of the top 100 stupidest decisions I’ve ever made, and that’s saying a lot.

I miss the maneuverability of the two-door, and it doesn’t need to have crazy-big tires to go everywhere off-road. I need 37s on the 4-door to go places I could get the TJ through with 33s… Still, as an overlander, the 4-door is more-betterer for me. I’m not trying to rough it or prove anything when we go sightseeing, and it’s nice to have room for fishing gear and comfort items, including a fire-pit for the many times we can’t have a real fire.

I would have assumed the same thing. Turns out (by the poll results anyway) that it's 4:1 the OTHER way.

I call this the "Woodstock Effect"... If everyone who claimed they saw Hendrix at Woodstock actually went to the concert, that would mean attendance was in excess of 130 million.

4 door is the compromise when it comes to buying a Wrangler.

You may consider it a compromise, for me, it was the difference between having a Wrangler or Not.

The 2 door simply wouldn’t meet my needs/uses. Sure I would Love to ALSO have a 2 door, although I keep trying, I haven’t won the lottery yet. For me, the 2 door would be a TOY, and as such, I have other ways of spending my disposable income, that I would get more Enjoyment from

All my life I have wanted a Jeep Wrangler. At 59 years old I finally got my dream machine and not once did I ever consider a 4 door. No offense to 4 door owners, but to me, a Jeep is and will always be a cute 2 door machine!

Yep, 2 doors are “Cute” in a Miata kind of way

This thread makes me wonder if 2 door sales are showing an increase lately. Usually these threads turn into a mess, with finger pointing and name calling.

But remember, if not for those 4 door sales, we likely would not even have a Wrangler to buy today. It's the 4 doors that saved the Wrangler, if you think about it.

In my opinion, the Gladiator should be part the Wrangler line. And like many have stated above, a 2 door version should be built and sold. Jeep themselves even made one and showed it a few years ago, the J6.

If Jeep built this, or a 2 door with about 8" more wheelbase, I would be very tempted to buy one.

I have both. I bought a new 2022 four door Rubicon soft top with an XR package. That’s my fun machine. My wife wasn’t happy with me getting rid of my 2012 two door Rubicon, but the Jeep is my toy. We shoot around town with it in the summer with the top down and do a lot of two tracks and forest road in northern Michigan while camping in the summer. I store it in the winter to keep it off Michigan’s salty roads. For winter I picked up a pre owned 2021 two door Willys hardtop. Removed the rear seat and we use it as a winter beater run around town vehicle. It also helps keep miles off my 2023 Chevrolet Traverse that’s our family car. My wife has enjoyed shooting around town in the Willys. She’s commented more than once how much easier it is to park than the Rubicon or Traverse. However all said, the ride quality and handling is much better on the four door. I did delete the black grill out of the Willys along with the mud terrain tires.

Why get the four door when you can just slap everything on the outside of your two door?

Just think if there was any storage space inside you wouldn't have to look like the Beverly hillbillies going down the road. Is that grandma in a rocking chair on the roof?

60 HP and 105 Lb Ft for 2215 lbs curb weight. Think about the torque to weight difference in 80 years, we’ve sure come a long way since then. The 2 door gets no love when it comes to powertrain options. Jeep won’t build one with a V8 or even a T-6 and Ca won’t let me swap a HP V8 in like for my 63……. Have a 4 dr.

I heard you should use 2-Cycle Oil for 2-Door Jeeps and 4-Cycle Oil for 4-Door Jeeps!

Incorrect- the 2 dr’s are 4 Cycle
