My good friend works for a Tier 1 supplier. He is not with the FCA team but many in his office are. What he has overheard from the FCA team is they got in new material and the weld guns aren't welding correctly and all the parameters need to be reset. His word were FCA changed material spec and it's a shit show, they are delayed because of this. Take it for what it's worth but that's the word from inside a Tier 1 supplier.

I guess I am a little behind the times ... but I am still surprized with the 2-door model falling so far behind the 4-door model in customer demand. Does anybody know the ratio ... like how many 4-doors for every 2-door?? I hope they don't do away with the 2-door model down the road.
I did a little internet search on Autotrader to find 42,947 new Jeep Wranglers listed at any distance. Then chose 2 door and got 7,248. Did the same search on Cars and got 44,218 and 7522. Regardless of other criteria it kinda tells the story of most popular.

oddly, the more people clamor for 4 doors, the longer i’m willing to wait for my 2 door. sucks, but as a first time jeep buyer, i’ve never seen the 4 door as “jeepish” - with that said, if my boys were still little, i’d be all over that 4 door because no way are multiple ice hockey bags and kids and all that crap gonna fly...

leads me to conclude that 2 door buyers are either childless (on average) or have kids who already drive (and so older)...could be interesting to do an informal poll on here, you know, cause i need something to do while i wait...

The Jeep website changed today. It no longer says "Late Availability" next to any of the color choices.

The material thing doesn't seam valid, why would the metal be different on the 2 doors. Unless he is saying the whole line is slowed.

Well I would never buy a four door corvette and the wrangler is the same way for me. I also remember climbing in the back seat of two door hatchbacks my whole childhood so I think a kid old enough to be out of a car seat can do the same. I say it’s our responsibility to preserve the two door!

From what he said is the material change effects all of Jeeps products.

The day Jeep stops making 2 doors is the day I buy something else... 4 doors just aren't for me, no kids, single, and it's a lifestyle choice. Nothing against those that get 4 doors, just not for me.

I like the 4 doors fine BUT I do not want one.

My ownership: a 2000 TJ Sport (solar yellow and wish I still had it!), a 2012 2 door JK Sport S, and WAITING on my 2018 JK Rubi. Thus, I will ride this Italian/FCA crap out until I get my 2 door. Then, I will KEEP this one as it seems 2 doors may die a slow death.

Unfortunately, my Rubicon is a Manual, Premium Soft Top, and LED package order - I may never get it at this rate.

You all do realize it was the 4 door release that saved the Jeep from being transformed into a uni-body IFS SUV right? I understand the frustration but do realize that without the 4 door you would not be having a 2 door Jeep to buy today.

Like I said, "I like the 4 doors" and I guess I am grateful for them too! Still don't want one and glad 2 doors are still around. If the Wrangler was my DD and my kid was little - probably. However, she did just fine strapped into her car seat next to me in the TJ with the doors off! However, I am 46 now and my amazing daughter is off to college. Plus, this will be my fun car!

Just want to add he was told 2 doors will not start production until all quality issue have been resolved, current ETA is 3-6 weeks.
