Well no tire installation today. The machine is down and will be fixed on Tuesday so I will have to wait. The 315's are noticeably bigger than the 285's for sure!

I'm thinking that it is JUST right for the 2 door.

My problem is, the LJ's handling went to shit after moving up to 35's. I don't want that for the new Jeep. Maybe I will keep with 285/70-17 STT's on a second "summer" set?

Those look soooooo nice. Post an after pic the same way when tires are switched.
I would like to see the difference .

The best off roading I have done was in Colorado. The trails are made for the Jeep, and mainly of rock, no brush to get scratches and the views are second to none. Even though I am in the country we have no real trails. But I am like you, I paid too much for my Jeep and want to keep it perfect! The picture below is from near Silverton in a rental Jeep.

I've been to Colorado twice and while I agree it is beautiful (very nice pic BTW), I would argue that the views are second to the Canadian Rockies. ;) Thanks for the info on the trails. I'll add it to my road trip list!

From what I have heard there is no noticeable change in handling when switching 315's for 285's. Did you do any suspension changes on your LJ?

I do love Colorado.

I've been resisting the urge to swap out tires and wheels because these K02's at 51 pounds are so damn smooth and capable. Still, the bug does call. Here are a few wheels and tires I'm looking at.

  • AEV Borah Bronze 17" x 8.5" Beadlock Capable Wheel (38 lbs)
  • Mopar Jeep Wrangler Performance Wheel 17" x 8" Beadlock Capable Wheel P/N 77072466AB (34lbs)
  • Method 701 Wheels 17x8.5 4.75 backspacing 0 offset load rating 2650lbs (??lbs)
  • Mammoth Boulder Black Wheels 17x9 4.7 backspacing -6mm offset load rating 1521lbs (23lbs)
  • Quadratec Rubicon Xtreme 17x9 4.75 backspacing -6.35mm offset load rating 2100lbs (29lbs)
  • BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A KO2 Tires - LT315/70R17 113/110S C Ford (65 lbs)
  • BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A KO2 Tires - LT315/70R17 121/118S E (65 lbs)
  • Discoverer STT PRO - LT315/70R17 121/118Q E (66 lbs)
  • BFGoodrich MUD-TERRAIN T/A KM3 Tires - LT315/70R17 121Q E (74 lbs)

Currently I'm thinking that the Method 701 with SST Pro is the way to go. :headbang:
As for the BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A KO2 Tires - LT315/70R17 113/110S C, if I had a scale I would weigh them as they seem a lot lighter than 65#'s.

I went to the Rubicon Express long arm. Though I ordered the triangulated rear, I got a track bar. Will never buy from 4 wheel parts again.

That is such a beautiful red! I saw one Firecracker Red JLU in the wild the other day: they really nailed that color. Happy Jeeping, Lydia and Vida!

Thank you for the confirmation. I've heard a lot of good things about the STT's. Any flexing issues? Rock toss reduced?

And of coarse, where are the pictures? They've been on for a whole day already!

:ninja:
Sorry for the delay Gary. I had to run to Chicago and pick up my car and it turned into a fiasco.
Here are a couple pics I took this evening.
